Qlocktwo W Watch: Time in Words

Posted by Andrey Malskiy Categories: Wearables, Design,

Watch that spells out time for you

Most digital watches are tacky, and some analog watches are difficult to read. However, the The Qlocktwo W by German studio Biegert & Funk offers up a stylish and intelligent solution. The watch spells out time by displaying it in five-minute intervals (i.e. it’s five past three.) In order to compensate for the minutes in between dots appear at the bottom of the watch until a new five-minute interval accrues.

You might have seen this design in a wall clock B&F produced, which sells for about $1,100. The wristwatch won't be much of a deal either, as it's set to sell for around $700 USD. If you’re ready to pick this watch up, you’ll have to wait. There’s no set release date yet, however you can sign up for updates on the studio's site.

Bleeding Edge TV 448: Phosphor Appear Swarovski Crystal Watch

The Phosphor Appear is a great looking watch, and a cool gadget to boot! We saw this one at CES, and had to get our hands on one as soon as we saw it. The Phosphor Appear is driven by Micro-Magnetic Mechanical Digital (M3D) technology, the Phosphor Appear watch utilizes miniature-sized rotors adorned with Swarovski crystals that revolve to reveal numerical or chronological information. Every minute, an electrical pulse generates an electromagnetic field that changes the position of the crystals on the face of the watch, which in turn, displays the passing time while producing a distinctive sound unique to the Phosphor Appear digital watch line. You can pick up the Phosphor Appear on Amazon. This video was recorded at CES 2012.

Phosphor Appear on wrist

We came across the Phosphor Appear watch line at CES. Although the company wasn't exhibiting there, we spotted the watch on someone's wrist and asked them about it immediately. It's definitely an eye-catching timepiece, and it's a cool gadget as well. The watch is driven by Micro-Magnetic Mechanical Digital (M3D) technology, and uses miniature-sized rotors adorned with Swarovski crystals that revolve to reveal the time. Every minute, an electrical pulse generates an electromagnetic field that changes the position of the crystals on the face of the watch, which in turn, displays the passing time. We'll have our review of the Phosphor Appear up later today. For now, enjoy this photo gallery showing it off! You can find great deals on the Phosphor Appear on Amazon.

Olivier Martinez Confirms Halle Berry Engagement

Olivier Martinez and Halle BerryOlivier Martinez has confirmed his engagement to Halle Berry.

The 46-year-old French actor - who met Halle on the set of Dark Tide in 2010 - has finally gone public with their plans to marry.

Asked about the engagement, he said, " Yes, of course it's true."

Speaking ahead of the opening of his new restaurant, Villa Azur, in Miami on Saturday, he also set the record straight about who designed the New Year's Eve actress' emerald and yellow gold ring. Jewelry designer Gurhan claimed to be the brains behind the ring in a statement to People, but Olivier says it was actually created by Parisian jeweler Robert Mazlo - who he says has been making jewelry for, "kings and queens for many centuries."

"There is a jeweler taking credit for doing the ring and it's a lie! They have nothing to do with this," he explained, talking to the Miami Herald newspaper.

Christina Hendricks at the Golden Globes

Sometimes a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.

Mad Men's Christina Hendricks didn't see her show win a Golden Globe on Sunday, but she had plenty of excitement that night.

Shortly before the ceremony started, the actress realized an $850,000 Chopard bracelet she had been wearing had fallen off her wrist.

Although she was reunited with the loaned item (an event worker found it out on the red carpet), she had difficulty getting it back on. That was when she placed it in a secure spot for safekeeping.

Angelina Jolie to Create Jewelry line

Angelina Jolie with Robert Procop

Actress Angelina Jolie has teamed with Robert Procop to create a new jewelry line. Jolie has designed a collection with statement stones for Robert Procop Exceptional Jewels and wore one of the pieces - a faceted black spinel necklace bezel set in rose gold - to the Berlin premiere of her film Salt earlier this year.

"Angelina has very classic style. These are pieces she wears herself," Robert, a former Asprey's chief executive who has designed for the actress for 10 years, told WWD.

Pieces from the collection - which will be priced individually - will be sold privately through the designer's network of clients, with all proceeds going to the Education Partnership for Children of Conflict, a charity co-founded by Jolie that aims to help children who are the victims of war and natural disasters.

Royal Engagement Ring: From Harry to Kate, through Prince William

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Engagements, Child Stars, Rumors,

Princess Diana’s famous engagement ring has been given to Prince William’s longtime girlfriend Kate Middleton … and this is strangely odd because the ring never belonged to William at all.

After Diana’s 1997 death, her sons Princes William and Harry were taken to Kensington -- the palace where Di resided -- by their father Prince Charles. Harry chose to take Di’s sapphire engagement ring as a memento of his mother; William took the Cartier watch she used to teach him how to tell time. Now, the ring graces the finger of Prince William’s fiancee (and the soon-to-be Princess of Wales).
