Quote of the Day: Elton John on His View of Jesus
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Music,
“I think Jesus was a compassionate, super-intelligent gay man who understood human problems. On the cross, he forgave the people who crucified him. Jesus wanted us to be loving and forgiving. I don’t know what makes people so cruel. Try being a gay woman in the Middle East—you’re as good as dead.”

VIDEO: More Dead People Appear in DirecTV Ads
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Comedy, Cable/Satellite, Gossip, Internet, Video,
After hiring Chris Farley after death, the people over at Landline TV (more internet video funny guys—as if we didn’t have enough) predicted who DirecTV may hire for their next commercials:
“After testing the boundaries with their Chris Farley spot, DirecTV wrangles more famous people from beyond the grave to be in commercials. “
In the video, the level of offensiveness heightens with each ad, as Heath Ledger, President John F. Kennedy, and Jesus are all mouthpieces for the satellite TV company.

Baby Jesus Receives GPS
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: GPS, Internet,
A baby Jesus statue was taken from a nativity scene in Bal Harbour’s Founders Circle, Florida, although it was bolted down at the time. Cincinnati attorney Jeffrey Harris read about the crime online and generously replaced it with a new one. Dina Cellini, the overseer of the display, has equipped the new figure and its ceramic parents with GPS devices to avoid the same event happening again. We are thinking that this might be an excellent strategy for protecting our lawn gnomes, too.

‘The 13th Disciple’ Imagines Jesus’ Twin
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Adventure, Religious, Filmmaking, Upcoming Releases,
From The Ten Commandments (with Charleton Heston) to Mel Gibson’s Passion of the Christ, Biblical movies are a long-standing Hollywood tradition. And right now is the perfect season to start thinking about Jesus Christ, right?
Robert Sigl (a German movie-maker) will put a whole new twist on the age-old hero – he’s going to give Jesus an evil twin brother. Remember the Superman movie where the Man of Steel had to face himself? Okay, imagine that…only in a really Bible-like way.
The 13th Disciple, to be set in modern India, focuses on two German archaeologists. Their mission? To determine whether or not Jesus ever visited the country. During their quest, the twin archaeologists discover that Christ, too, had a twin—an evil one who has been reincarnated into the present-day.
Christ himself will not be a character in the flick, and the filmmakers say they do not intend to convey any sort of religious message with the fictional film.

Censors Edit Kathy Griffin Emmy Speech
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Award Shows, Reality, Cable, Gossip, Spoilers,
Kathy Griffin’s Emmy acceptance speech, which was taped, will be edited before it airs on the upcoming E! channel broadcast. E! will show the taped portion of the Emmys on Saturday, though the prime time Emmys will be broadcast live on FOX Sunday night. In a Monday statement, The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences called Griffin’s remarks “offensive” and said they would not be part of the E! telecast. Here’s what Griffin said: “A lot of people come up here and thank Jesus for this award. I want you to know that no one had less to do with this award than Jesus.” She then held up her word and announced, “This award is my god now!” Religious critics are already calling Griffin’s words a “hate speech” and “blasphemous.”
