iPod nano 2011

At today's Apple event, Phil Schiller introduced the updated iPod nano. It's got a multi-touch display that's easier to navigate than last year's model, with a much-improved fitness experienced. Also, as an answer to the watch band accessories out there, Apple's added 16 new clock faces to make the nano more watch-like. They're available in seven colors, and are available today--8 GB for $129, 16 GB for $149.

Bleeding Edge TV 387: New unannounced AirPlay feature demoed in Bartleby Vol. II

In this video you get a look at an unannounced feature of Apple's AirPlay. You have an iPad 2 running Bartleby's Book of Buttons: Vol. II, and you have an Apple TV. Now, this demo isn't showing the AirPlay wireless capability, due to the NDA, and instead uses a cable - but make no mistake, this is already working wirelessly over AirPlay.

What is interesting is that you have something showing on the iPad display, and something totally different showing on the Apple TV. In other words, the Apple TV is acting as the app, and the iPad has become the controller for the app. Imagine the possibilities this introduces for iPad gaming.

Seventh-gen iPod nano to bring back the camera?

iPod nano with camera

There's further indication that the seventh-generation iPod nano could feature a camera.

A report obtained by AppleInsider that first appeared on Taiwanese Apple blog tw.apple.pro allegedly shows that the iPod nano will add a low-res 1.3 megapixel camera, eschew its clip, and retain its current small form factor and touch screen display.

Citing a source called "Ray" from California, the Taiwanese site claims the iPod nano will lose the clip because it would interfere with the camera.

The larger fifth-generation nano included a video camera, widescreen display, and video playback. These features were stripped from the sixth-generation edition of the device in favor of smaller form with a belt clip on the back and a multitouch display.

iOS 4.3.3

Apple just released iOS 4.3.3, an update aimed to fix the location tracking issue that raised a bunch of concerns over the last couple of weeks. With this update, the consolidated.db database that stores the location data will be reduced in size, and that database will no longer be backed up to iTunes. In addition, if you turn Location Services off, the cache gets deleted entirely. Plug your iPhone in and have iTunes check for the update when you get a chance--jailbreakers, you'll wanna wait until there's a compatible fix.

One of the most frequent requests, however, was the abilty to sync that music to Apple's iPod, something Spotify said is now a reality.
