Resident Evil 4 released for iPhone and iPod touch

Talk about big iPhone releases! Resident Evil 4 has hit the iPhone. It’s going for $7.99.

No word on how the game is. On the one hand, it is Resident Evil and the graphics don’t look bad. On the other hand, it is a port.

Apps for less: ExZues is now $0.99

ExZues for the iPhone and iPod touch, has dropped in price from $4.99 to $0.99. ExZues is a 3D Shoot’em-up style game with up to 12 different enemies and 5 different bosses. Need to blow stuff up? ExZues offers you weapons, allows you to shoot missiles at will and access to an upgrade shop for your robot’s features. Flashback is on the iPhone!

Flashback is a game a remember fondly from my childhood, specifically played on the Sega Genesis console. In its time, the game was so fluid and fantastic and packed quite the challenge. It was also the largest (in terms of file size) cartridge sold on Genesis back then. Imagine my surprise when I found out the game was now available in the App Store for the iPhone and iPod touch. Yes, if you’ve played Flashback, you know the goodness that is waiting for you—if you haven’t, you need to, right now.

Capcom brings Resident Evil: Degeneration to iPhone

This morning Resident Evil: Degeneration hit the App Store, officially bringing the Resident Evil game series to the iPhone and iPod touch. The game is based on the Resident Evil: Degeneration movie from Sony Picture Home Entertainment, and puts you in control of CLaire Redfield and Leon Kennedy, our Resident Evil mainstays.

The game hits you with 3D graphics, multi-touch controls, and even takes advantage of the accelerometer. Resident Evil: Degeneration sells for $6.99, and is available for purchase immediately.

Peggle available for the iPhone now

If you are one of those people that has been sitting in front of your Xbox 360 playing the Xbox LIVE Arcade’s popular title, Peggle, put on some pants and get ready to leave to house. Starting today, Popcap games has released the addictive puzzle game for the iPhone and iPod touch, which can be found in the App store for $4.99. Yup, now you can play your favorite title everywhere and anywhere. Peggle can also be found on other mobile devices such as the iPod and Nintendo DS.

Confirmed: Mass Effect for iPhone in development

Ok, so maybe the Internet doesn’t always lie. Bioware has finally opened up and decided to clear up rumors that came about from an online survey regarding one of their games. Community coordinator Chris Priestly has confirmed that Mass Effect: Jacob’s Story is in fact, a title in development for the iPhone and iPod touch.

The game will revolve around a side-story which focuses on one of the new characters for the upcoming title Mass Effect 2—and not a ‘bridging’ or prequel game as some had speculation. More information for the game will be revealed later this month and my guess is that we will get to see some of this in action at E3.

BMW Mini Liquid Assets

Mini Financial Services has launched a new iPhone and iPod touch game dubbed MINI Liquid Assets. This is based on the retro water-filled handheld games where you pushed a button to get one object to hit another. Based on an exhibit originally designed for dealers, you shoot nickels into the Mini-Es to keep more assets while in the liquid. (We are guessing that they paid big bucks to develop the clever play on words.) The download is free at the iTunes App Store, but as this is also a commercial, the main menu has a link to your nearest BMW Mini dealer.

iKids Play - For Those Long Car Trips

You get to play with your iPhone or iPod touch apps all the time, so next time you go on an extended trip, instead of hearing “Are we there yet?” pass your brats the phone with one of the iKids Play titles installed. One of the applications has 5 activities that include a coloring book, stories, finger painting, reading/recording aloud and a hidden image game. The company claims that it promotes tactile, listening and motor skills, visual/spatial coordination and color recognition as will as reading. More books will be available later, and for the introductory price of $2.99 at the App Store, it is definitely worth the mini-cost.

TapDefense: Free (and fantastic) tower defense game

There are a few tower defense games available in the App Store, but we think we’ve come across the best in TapDefense. Aside from being a free game, it’s really well done. The gameplay progresses in difficulty just as you’d expect it to, and developer LL Group even worked in the iPhone accelerometer into the gameplay - not something you find in your typical tower defense game. One of the towers available is an earthquake tower, and when enemies approach it, you shake your iPhone or iPod touch in order to destroy them. Very nice. In all, you’ve got 42 levels, six tower types, and seven different enemies to combat. And like we said, it’s free.
