The headphones feature a two-grille design, and sit at the edge of your ear canal with the main speaker doing the work. Next-generation iPhone to be announced September 12, iPad mini in October?
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Cell Phones, Handhelds, Rumors

For the past few weeks, we figured that Apple would be unveiling both its next-generation iPhone 5 as well as a 7.85-inch iPad at the same event on September 12. We thought it made sense that the company would introduce its new iOS devices all at once, but Daring Fireball's John Gruber theorized that a simultaneous unveiling might not be in the cards because then the two devices would steal each other's thunder, so to speak.

Apple to update all iOS devices, including the iPad, with new dock connector next month
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Accessories, Apple, Cell Phones, Design, Handhelds, Rumors

Last month iMore reported that Apple was set to unveil the next-generation iPhone and smaller 7.85-inch iPad during a media event to be held on September 12. Now, the site is also reporting that we will likely see a refresh of the entire iOS line at the event.
The report goes on to say that the reason for the mass refresh is to bring the new, smaller dock connector to all iOS devices. This would include the new iPhone 5, updated iPod touch, new iPod nano, the 7.85-inch iPad mini, and even an updated version of the third-generation iPad.
If true, this would mark the first time that Apple has deviated from the spring release and refresh date for the iPad, however, with the introduction of a new dock connector, we can see a minor update reflecting that change in order to bring on fast adoption of the updated standard.

Next generation iPhone will sport new, smaller dock connector
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Cell Phones, Design, Rumors

Apple is set to do away with its ten-year-old 30 pin dock connector in favor of a smaller, more compact version on the next-generation iPhone that's set to launch this fall. The new 19-pin connector will take up less space, allowing the headphone jack to be moved to the bottom of the device as well.
The move is controversial and will surely upset many owners of third-party dock connector accessories. On the flip-side though, this shows how nimble Apple is willing to be in order to spur progress with its devices. Thankfully, the company will purportedly be offering an 19-to-30 pin adapter to ease the transition.
