iOS 8.0.2

After releasing iOS 8.0.1 yesterday, and then subsequently pulling it due to critical bugs it introduced on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, Apple has released iOS 8.0.2 today. This release does everything that yesterday's iOS 8.0.1 update was supposed to do, while also eliminating a bug that caused both Touch ID and cellular connections to stop working on the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. Here is the full rundown:

  • Fixes an issue in iOS 8.0.1 that impacted cellular network connectivity and Touch ID on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus
  • Fixes a bug so HealthKit apps can now be made available on the App Store
  • Addresses an issue where 3rd party keyboards could become deselected when a user enters their passcode
  • Fixes an issue that prevented some apps from accessing photos from the Photo Library
  • Improves the reliability of the Reachability feature on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus
  • Fixes an issue that could cause unexpected cellular data usage when receiving SMS/MMS messages
  • Better support of Ask To Buy for Family Sharing for In-App Purchases
  • Fixes an issue where ringtones were sometimes not restored from iCloud backups
  • Fixes a bug that prevented uploading photos and videos from Safari

In addition to the quick update, the company also issued an apology to the 40,000 iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users who were affected by the bug for the past day or so, saying "iOS 8.0.2 is now available for users, it fixes an issue that affected iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users who downloaded iOS 8.0.1, and includes improvements and bug fixes originally in iOS 8.0.1. We apologize for inconveniencing the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users who were impacted by the bug in iOS 8.0.1."

We've downloaded the new update here on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus units, and everything is looking fine. The iOS 8.0.2 update is available now over the air, or through direct iTunes connection. Be sure to check out our full iOS 8 review.

You can order the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus from Apple.

iOS 8 review: A more powerful iPhone experience arrives

iOS 8 review

iOS 8 is the follow-up to last years radical redesign of Apple’s mobile operating system. After the visual overhaul, the company went to work on adding a bunch of features that would make its devices more open with features like extensions and third-party keyboards, yet more secure with improved permissions and more widespread Touch ID integration. With iOS 8, Apple looks to refine the experience that was introduced last year, while allowing features for the power users of the world to shine.

It’s been shown that Apple follows a two-step release process with its iOS device hardware and software. For example, one year the company will release a new design for the iPhone, and the following year it’ll keep that design and refine the device, releasing it as an “S” class upgrade. iOS seems to follow a similar pattern, especially this year, which follows last year’s big redesign. With iOS 8, Apple has introduced a layer of polish on top of its mobile operating system, bringing with it a bevy of new features. The question remains, do all the changes come together in a meaningful way? Join us for our full iOS 8 review as we explore the answer.

Jaime Pressly Has Had an “Almost Full Mastectomy”

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Television, Features,

Jaime PresslyJaime Pressly has opened up about having an "almost full mastectomy."

The Jennifer Falls actress revealed she noticed lumps forming in her breasts four years after she was first diagnosed with Mastitis - an inflammation in the mammary glad that often results from a bacterial infection related to breastfeeding. She developed a severe form of the benign disorder after welcoming her seven-year-old son, Dezi, with former fiance Eric Cubiche into the world in 2007, and initially assumed she was suffering from "regular breastfeeding pain."

"I had something that happened to me years ago -- when I had my son I got mastitis, but I didn't know because I thought it was just regular breastfeeding pain," The 37-year-old star told The Talk.

After having scar tissue removed from one breast, the blonde beauty's doctors informed her that the disorder had spread and she was forced to remove tissue from her other breast: "[I had] almost [a] full mastectomy. I still have some breast tissue left, just from the mastitis because it mutated into something else because it sat dormant for a while. But it was the craziest thing. Thank God it wasn't [cancer]."

Samuel L. Jackson was surprised to hear about Harrison Ford's injuries.

The 65-year-old actor was shocked by news that Harrison - who has reprised his role as Hans Solo in the sci-fi franchise - was crushed by a hydraulic door on set of the Star Wars: Episode VII last week, and insists the accident wouldn't have been his fault: "I'm sure it wasn't because he wanted to or it was something he was doing... I'm sure something went terribly awry if that happened because most times insurance companies don't like us doing those things!"

Apple shows off iOS 8 Health app & HealthKit platform

iOS 8 HealthKit

As rumored, Apple has announced its iOS 8 health initiative during the WWDC 2014 keynote. The new Health app will work with a developer API bundle called HealthKit. In iOS 8, apps will be able to report your health data to a centralized location, allowing you to see all the information and stats from different apps all in the same area. Further, you'll be able to choose if you'd like to share health data from one app to another.

Apple announced that Nike and the Mayo Clinic are two of the first to be working on HealthKit integration, while also picturing a Withings blood pressure monitor. Not much more has been announced about the new Health app for iOS 8 yet, but we're sure we will hear more about it closer to the release of iOS 8 release.

George Michael Taken to Hospital after Collapse

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Music,

George MichaelGeorge Michael was taken to hospital after collapsing at his home.

The "Careless Whisper" hitmaker was treated by paramedics at his north London mansion for four hours on May 22 due to a mystery illness before being helped into an ambulance. Shocked witnesses told The Sun newspaper that two emergency vehicles responded to a 999 call at about 8 am and rushed to help the 50-year-old singer, who lives in Highgate in London.

The star was reportedly taken to hospital at 12 pm for emergency treatment, but his agent has refused to comment on why he suddenly collapsed and whether or not it was related to drugs. "George Michael was in hospital for routine tests but there is nothing further to say," a spokesperson said.

George almost died of pneumonia in 2011 and has had to deal with a number of health problems over the years, including depression and drug addiction, which has seen him arrested multiple times and he served an eight week prison term in 2010.
