Cadillac’s Safety Alert Seat keeps you well-informed when on the road

Many cars now feature blind spot detectors, lance sensors, and other safety features that keep the drivers safe on the road. However, having all these sensors in a car can get annoying from all the warnings and beeping the car sends to the driver. For some, the nuisance of all the different alerts will cause a driver to turn the system off, which defeats of paying for the warning system in the first place. However, Cadillac believes they’ve found the solution to all this noise with the launch of the Safety Alert Seat in its spring models.
Cadillac has developed a safety system, which utilizes all the current safety features, but adds vibration to the mix. Good vibes so to speak, the safety system vibrates the driver’s chair and notifies them of where the danger is on the road. The vibrations are pinpointed via external sensors and vibrate the seat in the appropriate location.

Will the iPad HD feature haptic feedback that lets you “feel” displayed objects?

There's a little company out there called Senseg that makes tactile displays using an electrostatic field to simulate the feeling of friction and different textures right on the touchscreen, and the last-minute rumor of the day is that the technology might be the big secret feature of the iPad HD. The folks over at Pocket-link spoke with a Senseg rep, and were told that the company wouldn't be making any statements until "after Apple's announcement." Kind of odd and interesting. Either the person knowns they need to keep their mouth shut, or there's really nothing there and they just want a little publicity. However, in mid-2011 it was reported that Senseg was partnering with "a certain tablet maker based in Cupertino," and Apple's invitation for today's event does read "We have something you really have to see. And touch." Is that a vague clue? We'll know in under an hour.

Sony And Immersion Kiss And Make Up

Immersion and Sony Computer Entertainment have officially ended litigation and reached a settlement regarding the use touch feedback technologies patented by Immersion Corp. According to the press release, it appears that Sony has decided to stop any appeal process and pay the full amount of the judgment against them. In addition, the two companies have entered into an unspecified business agreement to explore including the technology in future Playstation products. This may well mean that there will be a new Dual Shock SIXAXIS controller on the horizon, as Sony miraculously figures out a way to combine rumble and motion-sensing technology into their controllers.
