Tiger Woods: The Image That’s Tarnished Beyond All Repair
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Sports, Television, Videos,
Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Not only have the former sponsors of golf legend Tiger Woods dropped him like a hot potato, now his once-pristine image is the stuff of jokes. Case in point: the Tiger Woods Love Doll. Yes, it is exactly what you think it is. The product is available from Pipedream Products, Inc., and the tagline reads “He’s got major WOOD!” Youch.
In related news, the golfer will be featured on the premiere of South Park which airs later this week. According to series co-creator Matt Stone, “We’re all really concerned about [Tiger Woods] and hope he gets better.” But don’t think that means the Park bunch will take it easy on the golf superstar, as their record shows that they’ll take exactly the opposite approach.
Long gone are the days of interesting Nike commercials and the image of an untouchable, elite sports hero. Will they ever come back?

Tiger Woods finally apologizes
Posted by Adrien Griffin Categories: Athletes, Editorial, Golf,
So Tiger Woods finally broke his silence. It’s too bad that he did this now; months after the incident… during the Olympics… on a Friday instead of a Monday. Tiger gathered six of his closest media friends to have a “press conference” to deliver his pre-written apology, refusing to answer questions, and took shots at those who “fabricated” stories over the last few months. He took full accountability for his actions, but he did so while struggling to speak fluently and coherently.

VIDEO: Tiger Woods Addresses Public for First Time Since Crash
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Sports,
Missed the (scripted) apology heard around the country today? Well, here’s your chance to watch all 13.5 minutes of it.
During Tiger Woods’ highly-controlled speech, the golfer addressed a number of topics. No - His wife, Elin Nordegren, did not hit him on in the evening of Nov. 27, nor has she ever struck him. Yes - He does plan return to play golf some day, he just doesn’t “know when that day will be.” No - Woods didn’t think “normal rules” applied to him; he thought money and fame “entitled” him. Yes - Tiger has already been in rehab for 45 days and, starting tomorrow, will go back for more treatment and more therapy.
After watching the video, let us know what you think. Did his rehearsed statement come a little too late? Do you applaud him for making a step in the right direction? Or would you prefer to see this all go away so you could get back to watching golf?

-Spike TV has ordered a pilot about a golfer (John Schneider) and his sex-crazed caddy…named Tiger. It’s not known who’ll play John’s buddy in Back Nine.
-Tina Fey’s admits her Saturday Night Live hosting gig this April will likely include a Sarah Palin sketch. At least there’ll be one funny part that night.
-Nadya Suleman will be leaving her babies behind to co-host The View next Wednesday. The noise may send the Octomom running back home.
-Meanwhile, Barbara Walters has decided that her upcoming Oscars special will be her last. Having to keep ten Best Film names straight is more than she can handle.
-Stewart Bailey, a former co-executive producer on the Daily Show, is now in charge of helping Last Call with Carson Daly. It’s a shame to see talent like that wasted.

Tiger Woods: No Shirt, No Secrets
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Sports, Photos, Rumors,
Vanity Fair’s newest cover features a shirtless Tiger Woods in a stunning photo taken by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz. The article inside the mag takes an in-depth look at the golfer’s very public fall from grace.
Brutally, the article lays out Tiger’s transgressions and the nature of his former public image, showing the two very contrasting personas. The piece then goes on, point-blank, to call Woods a sex addict “who could not get enough.”
But there is nothing in the article that speaks to the fans, nothing that remarks upon the loss of his once legendary image and the true sorrow it all evokes. How will golf lovers reconcile the perfect, professional athlete with the disgraced public figure? Until Woods himself comes forward to speak, the answer remains unknown.

AT&T hasn’t offered an official statement regarding why they decided to ditch the golf star…but the truth is, they don’t really need to.

Rudy Giuliani Talks Tiger
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Sports,
“Hang in there.” These pearls of wisdom come from former New York mayor and presidential contender Rudolph Giuliani, who once suffered a public scandal of his own involving different mistresses, to golf superstar Tiger Woods.
“He’s going through a tough period,” Giuliani observed, saying he knew Tiger “at an early stage in my son’s career; he was very kind and nice to him.” Guiliani’s son Andrew recently enjoyed a stint on Golf Channel’s Big Break Disney Golf, a reality series wherein golfers compete to win a chance to join a PGA tour event. Andrew Guiliani was eliminated from the series at the end of Week 8.
“I know what a nice man Tiger really is, particularly with children,” said Rudy Guiliani. “My son played golf with him.”

BREAKING NEWS: Tiger Woods Takes Indefinite Hiatus from Golf
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Sports, Rumors,
I guess the paparazzi can stop staking out the golf courses.
In a statement just posted on his website, Tiger Woods says he’s going to be taking an indefinite leave of absence from his sport:
I am deeply aware of the disappointment and hurt that my infidelity has caused to so many people, most of all my wife and children. I want to say again to everyone that I am profoundly sorry and that I ask forgiveness. It may not be possible to repair the damage I’ve done, but I want to do my best to try.
I would like to ask everyone, including my fans, the good people at my foundation, business partners, the PGA Tour, and my fellow competitors, for their understanding. What’s most important now is that my family has the time, privacy, and safe haven we will need for personal healing.
After much soul searching, I have decided to take an indefinite break from professional golf. I need to focus my attention on being a better husband, father, and person.
Again, I ask for privacy for my family and I am especially grateful for all those who have offered compassion and concern during this difficult period.
