William Shatner Still Talking About George Takei

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Movies, Television, Rivalries, Videos,

Here we go again…

Just a few weeks ago, Star Trek‘s William Shatner hit YouTube to explain why George Takei kept him out of his September nuptials. His theory? Sulu has some sort of “psychosis.” Shortly thereafter, Takei spoke to Entertainment Tonight and denied the snub. He did invite his co-worker after all; William simply didn’t bother to RSVP.

Well - Bill, being Bill, just couldn’t let someone else have the last word…hence the new video he recently posted. In it, Captain Kirk once again claims that Takei is “out of touch of reality” but then also questions why George is “so mean” to him.

If he’s really sooo delusional, William, why do you care what he thinks about you?

Wiliam Shatner Lashes Out at George Takei

UPDATE: Takei told Entertainment Tonight that an invitation was sent to Shatner after all. William just didn’t bother to RSVP.

It should make J.J. Abrams feel better to know that he isn’t the only one hated by William Shatner.

Since he hasn’t been assigned to any film shoots, the Boston Legal star has apparently found himself with a lot of spare time. Last month, Shatner - with the help of his daughter - hit YouTube to talk about being snubbed by the Star Trek director. Now he’s hitting the internet to talk about being snubbed by a former co-star.

When actor George Takei (Sulu) married his partner Brad Altman back in September, several members of the Star Trek family were included in the event. Unfortunately, Shatner was not one of them. In an interview with AP Radio, George said his memories of the show’s lead star weren’t always pleasant.

George Takei Weds Partner Brad Altman

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Television, Weddings, Videos,

Four weeks after Ellen Degeneres wed girlfriend Portia de Rossi, actor George Takei got his turn. On Sunday, the 71-year-old legend wed his partner of 21 years in Los Angeles. The Buddhist ceremony came three months after Takei and Brad Altman, 54, lined up to obtain their marriage license.

Approximately 200 people were present for the nuptials, which was held at the Japanese American National Museum. Former Trek co-star Nichelle Nichols (Uhura) served as the Best Lady while Walter Koenig (Chekov) played the role of Best Man.

You can see a portion of the long-awaited wedding procession below:

  • Wanna Bet? (ABC, 9pm):  Series premiere. “Celebrities wager on ordinary people’s abilities to perform wild stunts. Tom Green, Sherri Shepherd, George Takei and Harland Williams are the judges in the opener.” If Tom Green had placed a bet on Drew Barrymore’s latest relationship, I’m sure he would have made a ton.
  • Date My Ex: Jo & Slade (Bravo, 10pm):  Series premiere. “Jo De La Rosa, of The Real Housewives of Orange County, begins her quest to find a love match by sizing up her various suitors. Helping her weed out the contestants: ex-flame Slade Smiley.” At this point, anyone not named Slade Smiley would be an upgrade.

Secret Talents of the Stars Already Cancelled

Secret Talents of the Stars, Sasha Cohen

Thanks to dismal numbers for Tuesday’s debut, CBS has decided to cancel after only one outing.

The show which would have eventually had viewers vote on their favorite performances was originally scheduled to air through the end of May.  Unfortunately, the reality series placed a distant third in its original time slot (even behind a repeat).  If things dwindled from there, the phone lines would have been painfully quiet.

So what did this abrupt cancellation force us to miss out on?  Next week, Jo Dee Messina was slated to perform modern dance, Joshua Morrow was going to juggle and was planning to transform into a trapeze artist.  (Yes, be thankful the program ended now.)

If you missed out any of this week’s performances, you can catch four of them after the jump:

Mr. Sulu Honored in Space

Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Home Entertainment, Science,

George TakeiFirst Captain Kirk is given his own star, and now Star Trek’s Mr. Sulu has an asteroid with his name on it, located between Mars and Jupiter. Discovered by two Japanese astronomers in 1994, the 7307 Takei joins the list of other asteroids that have been named after Gene Roddenberry, Nichelle Nichols (Lt. Uhura,) and writers Robert Heinlein and Isaac Asimov. There are about 165,000 asteroids that have been discovered and numbered, 14,000 of which have been named. While star naming is generally done by pay-per-star on the Net, the International Astronomical Union selects and chooses its honorees at no charge. Congrats, George.
