Gisele Bundchen Becomes Face of Chanel No. 5

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Editorials, Health & Beauty, Models, News,

Gisele BundchenGisele Bundchen has been named the new face of Chanel No. 5 perfume.

The Brazilian supermodel will take over from Brad Pitt to front the scent, and has been filming an advert with Baz Luhrmann to promote it in Sagaponack, New York state.

According to WWD, Gisele was chosen to represent the brand because of her "natural beauty and modern femininity." After initial filming last week, the model will film further shots in New York City.

Baz is also no stranger to directing adverts for Chanel No. 5 as he previously helmed a 2004 campaign for the fragrance featuring Nicole Kidman. Victoria's Secret beauty Gisele, who has two children - Benjamin, four, and 17-month-old Vivian - with her husband, NFL star Tom Brady, may be an internationally famous model, but she's not afraid to muck in and clean out the chicken run at her home in Los Angeles. "I have a beautiful garden where I raise chickens. We have very little waste because the chickens eat all of the vegetable scraps, and anything they won't eat, I put in my compost pile with the chicken poo," she explained.

Items Du Jour: The Row in L.A., Jay-Z’s Fragrance, Adam Levine at K-Mart

Kristin Chenoweth's new haircut+ Because apparently people are still talking about Melissa McCarthy's ELLE Coat-ergate, the funny lady opened up more about her inspiration behind choosing the outerwear piece, claiming that she wanted it to look like "the walk of shame."

+ In addition to getting ready to launch their new fragrance - which is two years in the making - the Olsen twins revealed that they're planning to open up a flagship store for The Row in Los Angeles.

+ Despite the dozens of pleas from fans urging Jay-Z to take a stand against Barney's due to the store being in hot water over racial profiling, the rapper decided to launch his first fragrance there. The fragrance's - called Gold (because, Jay-Z) - launch will coincide with the unveiling of Jay-Z's "New York Holiday" collaboration.

+ Kristin Chenoweth - not unlike Pamela Anderson a few days earlier - decided to do away with most of her hair in favor of a pixie cut.

The "Little Things" boy band - consisting of Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson - are once again smelling sweet success as their first ever fragrance, marketed towards their ever-loyal female fan base, has sold more than any other scents in 2013 in the UK. Our Moment is also retail chain The Perfume Shop's best selling fragrance in history and the company was even forced to bring in extra staff to meet demand from the group's obsessed admirers.

"The success of Our Moment is something One Direction are very proud of. The incredible level of sales we've seen so far of Our Moment and the overwhelming feedback given by fans is a reflection of the band's involvement in every stage of its creation and their desire to make a personal and unique product for their fans," said Faye Langworthy of One Direction's management firm, Modest! VIDEO: Robert Pattinson, Camille Rowe Star in Dior Homme Ad

No one does the mysterious and brooding type better than Robert Pattinson, which is likely why the folks over at Dior casted him as the mysterious, brooding love interest opposite model Camille Rowe.

Released earlier today, the black-and-white (save for the end - ooh that's artsy!) clip sees Pattinson and Rowe as a fashionable-but-rebellious couple smoking cigarettes and causing a ruckus at a fancy dinner hall. Because, naturally, when you wear Dior Homme, you're compelled to act like you're in a French New Wave film.

Taylor Swift: Perfume Captures My Personality

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Health & Beauty,

Taylor SwiftTaylor Swift believes her perfume captures her "personality."

The 23-year-old singer is preparing to release her new scent Taylor by Taylor Swift this month and insists she's stepped away from the "romantic kind" of aroma, creating her third fragrance to represent her progression in life: "For me, it's sort of who I am and embodies my personality and my style. There's been sort of a progression between fantasy and reality, and I think this perfume just really follows that progression. It would take place in my day-to-day life if that makes sense."

The "I Knew You Were Trouble" hitmaker - who is currently on her RED tour with Ed Sheeran - is also beginning to think about starting a new record, but is taking a few months off from penning tracks to give her mind a break from the pressure. "I'm getting ready to start thinking about it. Because my record, it just came out and I'm trying to give my mind a second to like, 'OK,' because when I write a record, I write until I cannot write anymore, I drive myself crazy and then finally the album comes out and I give myself a few months off, so I'm still in that time," she explained.

Items Du Jour: Rooney Scores Dior, Doutzen Pulls an Angelina

Christy Turlington+ Considering she has both the face and body for high fashion, it's no wonder that actress Rooney Mara has signed with Dior to lend her face to their Down Town fragrance campaign. Naturally, her face is so gorgeously distracting that it's barely apparent that the photo is an ad for a perfume.

+ Model Doutzen Kroes imitates Angelina Jolie's famous 2010 Oscar dress, showing off some serious leggage at the Cannes Film Festival in Atelier Versace (albeit, looking somewhat like a superhero).

+ Despite her doctor's orders to avoid tight-fitting shoes, a very pregnant Kim Kardashian was spotted desperately trying to squeeze into her Givenchy heels.

+ Harper's Bazaar features supermodel Christy Turlington on next month's cover, which notes that she's still fabulous at 44 - as if we still didn't need reminding since she turned 40.

Items Du Jour: Westwood Blasts Michelle, Rihanna Surprises Shopper

Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss in 'Catching Fire'+ Fans of The Hunger Games and those with an affinity of couture gowns were excited to see the gorgeous dress Jennifer Lawrence sported in promotional images released for the film last week. Costume designer Trish Summerville spilled the beans on the designer of the dress, who is an Indonesian designer named Tex Saverio.

+ New Harvey Nichols ads for their "Love Thyself" campaign - which features females models appearing to kiss themselves - raised enough eyebrows to warrant 17 complaints to the British Advertising Standards Authority (ASA). Thankfully, they were quickly dismissed.

+ After recently verbally attacking Duchess Catherine over her lack of recycling clothes, fashion designer Vivienne Westwood has now targeted First Lady Michelle Obama, calling her style "dreadful."

+ One lucky Rihanna fan was not only awarded the chance to be one of the first to see the singer's River Island collection but was also treated to a surprise appearance from the singer herself - at her changing room door!

Adam Levine to Launch His Own Fragrance

Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Celebrities, Health & Beauty, News,

Adam LevineMusician-turned-reality star Adam Levine is going against what he previously condemned on Twitter: creating his own fragrance.

“I also would like to put an official ban on celebrity fragrances. Punishable by death from this point forward," he wrote on Twitter back in 2011. While he is unlikely to kill himself over his own ban, it would be nice if there were fewer celebrity fragrances!

The Maroon 5 frontman's eponymous fragrance line will include both men's and women's products with prices ranging between $35 and $65.

And what is the source of his inspiration? “I wanted to do something understated and elegant — something that people I revere in that world, like Tom Ford, would do, and something I’d be attracted to," Levine said.

(FYI - You can also follow Chic Dish on Twitter.)
