Grow Your Own With AeroGarden 3
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Household, Misc. Tech
We now have tomatophobia, seriously. Because of all the tainted fruits (yes, tomatoes are fruit,) not being able to be traced (since produce doesn’t generally have RFID tags on them,) we stopped eating them unless they are locally grown. Now you can grow your own with AeroGarden’s latest model. It features a Deluxe-Grow Bulb which they promise will deliver faster germination, more growth and higher amounts of yield. At a size of 9 1/2 x 11 x 20-inches, the AeroGarden 3 comes with 3 seed kits for $99.95.

s’Baggers Automated Restaurant
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Misc. Tech, PC / Laptop, Science

Germany’s s’Baggers Restaurant has been up and running for a while now and is apparently expert at what they do as they have captured the attention of even the BBC. The brainchild of Michael Mack, the first automated restaurant features color coded seating, a touchscreen TV for ordering, and food prepared by chef in the kitchen on the roof that comes down an assembly line. While waiting, the diner can catch up with e-mail, send an IM, or read about the ingredients in their selected dish. While we may not be able to visit s’Baggers right away, we cannot wait to partake of their very special Suckling Pig & Carp Night.

To Clone or Not to Clone
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Design, Editorial, Misc. Tech, Science
We understand assembly lines pumping out electronic gadgets at unholy speeds so that the masses can have their toys. But when the FDA announced that cloned beef is acceptable to eat once the USDA has determined that we are “used to the idea,” we just had to wonder. Whatever happened to natural foods? We are still getting accustomed to the hormones injected into our meat that causes puberty in children a few years earlier than seems natural. Genetically altered grain runs rampant. But do we really want to eat a poor animal who has been created solely through scientific means? Should that be considered organic? What do you guys think?

Iwavecube is Diminutive Nuker
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Household, Misc. Tech
It’s lunchtime and everyone is racing to get their Hot Pockets into the break room’s microwave. Do you eat it frozen, give up and head for Taco Bell, or patiently wait? None of the above. You are the proud owner of the Iwavecube, a 10 x 10.5 x 12-inch portable microwave with built-in handle. It won’t handle a Hungry Man dinner, but for $129.95, it may pay for itself if you charge your other co-workers so they won’t have to stand in line either. Find it at the Sky Mall in colors of red or black.

The straps are priced anywhere from 609JPY ($5.69.) to 658 JPY ($6.14.) The only thing creepier than these Qs is their accompanying commercial.

Homemade Sushi, Anyone?
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Household, Misc. Tech
We adore sushi, but it is quite an expensive treat. Bandai Namco has the answer with its Automatic Sushi Roller. Place seaweed, rice, seafood, and veggies in the orange machine. Turn the rollers and you are all set to impress your dinner guests. This device seems to be based on the age-old cigarette rollers that never worked quite right. By the way, we just have one nit to pick. It’s not automatic if you have to turn the thing yourself. The gadget is available from Bandai for 2940 Yen (~$25.00.)
