Liam PayneLiam Payne rushed to hospital after a blaze at his flat left a friend injured on Monday night.

The 20-year-old One Direction star's balcony at his $4 million flat, located in Canary Wharf, London, caught light and an unknown male suffered 20 degree burns to his hands and face when something went wrong with the heater.

"His friend went to fill up the gas for a heating lamp, there was some sort of accident and the whole balcony went up in flames," a source said.

Two other people are also said to have suffered burns, meanwhile it is believed Liam was in the kitchen when the incident took place and remains unharmed. An ambulance and fire brigade was called at 9:45pm and it took 35 firefighters to put out the fire which has since destroyed Liam's balcony.

Robert De Niro Is Homeless After Fire

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Movies, Rumors,

Robert De Niro and his wife Grace HightowerRobert De Niro has been left homeless after a house fire.

The 69-year-old actor and his wife Grace Hightower had to move out of the home in Central West Park in New York City in June after a blaze caused by a lint build-up in a clothes dryer spread across the building. Despite originally planning to renovate, they are now moving out permanently after it was deemed uninhabitable.

They had lined up a $100,000-a-month apartment to rent on the 64th floor of the Park Imperial, but the deal turned sour with Robert claiming it was "misrepresented" to him. "There was an issue with misrepresentation of the apartment and they managed to get out of the lease. The apartment went back on the market two days ago," a source told New York Post's Page Six.

Grace has also been heard telling friends she and her husband are looking for a five-bedroom rental which has "tons of closet space."

IPS Tracks Victims by Satellite

Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: GPS, Misc. Tech, Science,

firefightersThales, a French aerospace company, designed its IPS (Indoor Positioning System) for firefighters. The tracking system is based on the Ultra Wide Band radio signal, a form of satellite navigation. They felt that traditional GPS would not be as effective as the signals were often weak and sometimes bounce off surfaces. The IPS shows the exact location of people or animals inside buildings that are too smoky to see. It can also track firefighters’ positions in relation to each other as well as their outside vehicles. We can see other future applications, such as tracking lost miners or the injured after our next great natural disaster.
