GagaVille, a Lady Gaga-themed version of FarmVille, opened its gates yesterday.

From today until May 26, GagaVille invites users to "execute Gaga-themed quests" and unlock songs from Lady Gaga's upcoming album, "Born This Way," which hits stores on May 23.

As Zynga announced last week, GagaVille is a marketing partnership with Lady Gaga and Clear Channel Radio. The game gives fans access to Clear Channel's iHeartRadio player, and an exclusive preview to the diva's upcoming album.

Fans who buy $25 worth of FarmVille game credits through Best Buy will also get to download the entire album for free.

Is a Farmville for Dummies book really necessary?

Farmville for Dummies

How do you justify the existence of a book that lays out the concept and strategy to succeed in Farmville? Especially when there are sites that can help you free of charge. Co-author Kyle Orland of Farmville for Dummies sat down with Ars Technica to make an argument for putting the casual Internet game into layman's terms.

"Sure, Farmville isn't a particularly difficult game—it practically holds your hand in telling you how to play, and there's a limited amount of strategy to playing," Orland told Ars. "Some of the sections of the game—especially the farmer's market and some aspects of animal tending—require multiple, time-lapsed steps to complete successfully, and the game only gives one screen of text-heavy explanation for how to go about them."

The Smurf’s Village review

Posted by Patrick Lambert Categories: Games, iPad Apps, Reviews, Free Apps

This week Capcom, the popular publisher behind Street Fighter IV and Resident Evil 4, has released their latest title: The Smurf's Village. This title follows the tried and true model of Farmville and the countless other similar games out there. It's a free game, where the player has to build his or her town and maintain it. You build farms and plant various food types, build houses, and other various buildings. Then you have to harvest your crops, and level up as you get coins and experience. You can also use real life money to speed things up, as usual.

More than half of Facebook users log on to play games

Posted by John Kilhefner Categories: Social Media

Wondering why your friends are taking forever to respond to your IMs or wall posts? Chances are they are probably too busy playing Facebook games.

According to a new statistic from AllFaceBook.com, a whopping 53% of Facebook users play games while on Facebook. That’s about 290 million people playing Farmville, Mob Wars, etc. 56 million of these people play FB games daily. To put this in perspective, that’s more people than the entire population of England. This means that you can talk openly about your FB games exploits and more than half the time will be able to spark up a convo based around social network gaming. Interest fact for the guys as well, as 69% of those FB gamers are women. We predict pick up lines to sway drastically into the “So, how many crops do you harvest, girl?” category.

Check out the stats after the jump.

Tired of Farmville? Strike back in tasteless style with FarmVillain

Farmvillain

FarmvillainTired of constant Facebook Farmville updates from “friends”—yes, I just used air-quotes—that you haven’t talked to since pre-school?  Well now you can strike back in classless style—yes, I also understand what an oxymoron is—with FarmVillain.  There is no game to play here, just spiteful Facebook-bombing at its sarcastic best.  Bury a dead hooker in your least-favorite friend’s lawn.  Claim 10 illegal-immigrants on your neighbor’s wall.  You can even choose to “add a whole lot more cowbell to your farm”.  I don’t even know what that means and I want to do it.  Fight back with FarmVillain.
