Spaced Remake Snubs Creators

Posted by Shannon Bennett Categories: Comedy, Editorial,

SpacedFor fans of the original series - some of us still finding it hard to accept that there will never be a third season - the announcement that an American remake of Spaced was on the way probably didn’t raise cheers of joy.

In fact, it’s always been assumed that Granada (as it will be called) would be Americanized and Hollywoodized beyond recognition from the original genius upon which it’s based, which makes this latest piece of news all the more infuriating.

Wonderland and Warner Brothers, more specifically McG, have apparently cut , Jessica (Stevenson) Hynes, and show’s director Edgar Wright out of any participation with the show, crossing lines from avoidance to clear expression that their creative input is undesired.  A foolish gesture considering Pegg and Wright’s phenomenal American success with Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, and morally just all sorts of wrong.

The source called it “disturbing stalker kind of stuff.”

The LAPD denied that an investigation is in the works, but said they are “looking at allegations” which began in recent months.

Six-Year-Old Tricks ‘Hannah Montana’ Star

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Kids, Music, Cable, Gossip,

Miley CyrusA young fan won the contest of a lifetime when she submitted her essay about her father’s tour of duty in Iraq, which culminated in his demise. The six-year-old won four highly coveted tickets to a Miley concert and even got a makeover as part of the package. There’s just one problem: the essay wasn’t true. Okay, so maybe the child’s mother thought is was a creative writing contest. That’s easily confused…right?

When asked by contest officials if the essay was true, the child’s mother admitted outright that it was not. Because of this admission, the six-year-old will no longer attend the concert.  Her award has been withdrawn and will be offered to another contestant.

Turbo Toaster Designed Out of Frustration

Turbo Toaster

Oliver Newberry, a graduate of Central St. Martins College of Art and Design in London, got perturbed when his beans, one of his fave meals, wouldn’t stay hot while he was making his toast. His prototype Turbo Toaster was born, apparently impressive enough to allow funding from Heinz. We admire ingenuity here at Gear Live but wonder if he could just keep the legumes on the burner while making his toast or perhaps make the toast first and the beans will reheat it. The thought of that breakfast may not get our taste buds excited, but it certainly helped Newberry land a gig.
