Samsung Exhibit 4G

On the heels of yesterday's heady HTC Sensation 4G announcement, T-Mobile announced Thursday that it is coming out with its second Android 2.3, aka Gingerbread, device this month, the Samsung Exhibit 4G.

Not only does it cost half the price of the HTC Sensation, it actually runs on 4G speed, which T-Mobile defines as HSPA+ 21. The Sensation, meanwhile, is stuck on HSPA+ 14.4.

For a modest $79.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and two-year contract, the Samsung Exhibit 4G comes with a 1-GHz processor, touch screen keyboard, 3-megapixel rear-facing camera, front-facing photo camera with pre-installed video chat, Flash-supported Web browsing, microSD slot, and best of all, theoretical speeds of 21 Mbps. Or perhaps this is the best part: the phone also comes pre-loaded with Bejeweled 2, Hasbro's Scrabble, and Doodle Jump.

The Exhibit comes in black or violet, and is expected to hit stores sometime in June, T-Mobile said.

Vivienne Westwood Shoes to Go on Display

Naomi Campbell taking a plunge in Vivienne Westwood shoesAn extensive collection of shoes are to go on display in London.

The display, entitled Vivienne Westwood Shoes: An Exhibition 1973-2010, charts the evolution of the iconic British designer’s collection over the last four decades. Going on display at London’s Selfridges department store on Thursday, the exhibition is to showcase almost 200 shoes from the Vivienne Westwood archive, as well as pieces from the designer’s new collection and exclusive designs from her collaboration with cult rubber designer Melissa.

“The exhibition traces the exceptional success of Westwood’s career to date and presents her outstanding artistic individuality. Illustrating her defiance of the rules of wearability and convention, the exhibition is also evidence of her uncompromising quest for superb craftsmanship and attention to detail,” said a spokesperson from the department store.

Vivienne Westwood shoes were the centerpiece of one of the fashion world’s most memorable moments when supermodel took a tumble on the catwalk while wearing the Super Elevated Gillie design in 1993. Meanwhile, her iconic Pirate Boots - which were originally designed in 1981 - have remained popular among the fashion elite to the present day.

MoMA Elastic Mind

Speaking of MoMA, not only are they exhibiting the likes of AT&T and Nokia at the museum, there is an incredible display online. Combining science with design, there are over 300 concepts in Elastic Mind that are translated into physical objects. The purpose, they say, is to “combine research with attentive consideration of human limitations, habits, and aspirations.”

All we know is that spending a couple of hours on the site may not have the impact of seeing the show itself, but it certainly is worth the time. For example, in Collection for the Lonely Man, it includes the Sheet Thief, which winds up the bed clothes to the other side. Others are Cold Feet, Heavy Breather, Plate Thrower, and Hair Alarm Clock that will run hair across the user to wake him.
