Lil Wayne Loses Endorsement Deal

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Artist News, Hip-Hop & Rap,

Lil WayneLil Wayne has lost a multi-million dollar endorsement deal with an American beverage giant.

The "Lollipop" rapper - who has epilepsy and suffered another seizure on Tuesday night - has been dropped by Mountain Dew over controversial lyrics that he penned about historic Mississippi teenager Emmett Till, who was beaten and murdered in a racist attack in 1955 after he allegedly flirted with a white woman.

The soft drinks brand, which is owned by PepsiCo, confirmed they have severed ties with the rapper and dropped their joint "DeWezzy" campaign on Friday because he wrote the line "beat the p***y up like Emmett Till" for the remix of Future's track "Karate Chop," which was leaked online in February.

"We do not plan any additional work with Lil Wayne moving forward. His offensive reference to a revered civil rights icon does not reflect the values of our brand," a spokesperson said.

Lindsay Lohan Loses Endorsement Deal

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers,

Lindsay LohanLindsay Lohan has lost an endorsement deal due to her recent legal troubles.

The Canyons actress landed a lucrative contract with Odaingerous clothing company but when Lindsay was sentenced to 90 days in rehab after pleading no contest to charges for lying to police about driving during a car crash last June, the company rescinded their offer.

"In light of the recent conviction of actress Lindsay Lohan, clothing and lifestyle brand, Odaingerous is officially withdrawing its offer for an endorsement agreement of actress Lindsay Lohan as the face of the brand. We wish her the best on her recovery and future pursuits. We held off on our upcoming promotional campaign due to the uncertainly of Ms. Lohan. But have decided to move forward and will soon announce the name of the Odaingerous face and continue the world of living Odaingerously," said Creative Director and CEO of Odaingerous Odain Watson.

As part of her plea deal, Lindsay, 26, is required to check into a residential treatment facility for 90 days by May 2 and despite claims she would stay at the Seafield Center in Westhampton Beach, New York, her lawyer Mark Heller insists they haven't made a final decision yet: "Lindsay is expected to sit with me this week ... and then a final approval has to be rendered by the court."

Dr. DreDr. Dre has been named hip hop's highest earner.

The rap mogul may still not have released his long-awaited Detox, album but he made an estimated $110 million last year, largely thanks to his Beats by Dr. Dre headphone collection, which saw him earn $100 million when HTC bought a 51 per cent stake in the company for $300 million.

P. Diddy was ranked second on the list with $45 million, with a huge percentage of his income coming from his share of profits for Diageo's Ciroc vodka, while third-placed Jay-Z brought in more than half of his $38 million through business deals including ownership stakes in cosmetics company Carol's Daughter, the Brooklyn Nets and a joint venture with Duracell.

Former Def Jam President Kevin Liles - who now manages a number of hip-hop artists - says it is typical for his acts to make a lot of their money from endorsements:

Kate Winslet in St. JohnOscar winner Kate Winslet says being stylish is hard work. The Mildred Pierce star admits being a busy working mother often leaves her with little time to plan her wardrobe, but praises American knitwear brand St John with helping her to look good.

"Being a person who wants to be able to pull off something that is stylish and comfortable and needing to be able to pull a good look together with not much time can often be extremely difficult but a company like St. John makes it so simple. The clothes are cut beautifully, the fabrics are elegant, you can look extremely chic without trying too hard. You don't feel that the clothes are something that only a model would be able to wear and obviously I'm not a model, I don't have a model shape, I have a real shape. These are the kind of clothes that I would wear, functional and practical. The St. John collection is effortless and chic, and I think speaks to how real women live and dress today," said Kate, who recently became the face of the brand.

Lady Gaga at the center of tea company endorsement bidding war

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Music,

Lady Gaga teacup is at the center of a bidding war by tea firms who want her to be the face of their drink.

The ‘Alejandro’ singer - who is well known for her love of the hot beverage - is reportedly being pursued by several major companies who want her to be their brand ambassador.
So far, distinguished English firm Twinings is the most determined to bag the contract with the eccentric pop star.

They’ve made a lucrative offer to her management and have also instructed expert tea makers to invent a new oriental flavor especially for Gaga which they hope will appeal to her fans and younger drinkers around the globe. A source told The Sun newspaper “Her management have received a load of offers from major tea companies but Twinings are the frontrunners. They want to launch a new tea with her face on it. Names like The Taste Of Gaga are being batted about. The idea is to have tasting sessions in which she would participate. The tasters are coming up with a tea with an oriental flavor. They want to market tea to a new, younger generation - particularly in America. Gaga is making drinking tea cool again.”

The 24-year-old star - real name Stefani Germanotta - is often pictured sipping tea from her favourite cup and saucer set and rarely travels anywhere without it. She threw a huge tantrum last year when she lost the teacup. She accidentally left the blue flowered cup at a restaurant in London’s Metropolitan Hotel and sent a taxi on a $53 round trip from her suite at Blakes Hotel to collect it. A source said: “She kicked up a fuss and demanded someone get her cup and saucer back. She wouldn’t drink out of anything else. It just looked like any other cup and saucer and said ‘Made in China’ on the bottom. It seemed a lot of fuss over nothing.”

Rachael Ray to Hawk Dunkin’ Donuts

Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Daytime, Food & Home, Talk Shows, Cable,

Rachael RayIn her attempt to take over the world, Rachael Ray has just signed on as a spokesperson for Dunkin’ Donuts. Dunkin’ is launching a new “health-conscious” menu and wants Ray to sell the heck out of it. Not only will she be the face/voice/whatever of the new line of healthy food and beverages, but she will also help to develop the products. Basically, with the recommendation to avoid trans fats, Dunkin’ is steppin’ up and yanking the trans from their lineup. Ray, of course, is excited (when is she not?)—saying, “I am excited to work with Dunkin’ Donuts’ team of chefs as they expand their menu to include new items for customers looking for more health-conscious options.” Dunkin’s president, Robert Rodriguez, said, “Rachael’s philosophy of creating quality meals quickly and without pretense for busy people living busy lives is the same driving force behind the Dunkin’ Donuts brand.” Oh yeah, he forgot to mention that she is a household name and all around American girl that people are strangely drawn to. Cha-ching!
