Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Artist News, Pop, R&B / Soul,

AdeleAdele earned $50 million in 2013 without touring or releasing any music.

The Skyfall singer's Melted Stone company revealed a turnover of $50 million for the past financial year, which was filed this week with Companies House. According to reports in The Sun newspaper, Adele took home $19.8 million, which included a $8 million pay package and a $11.8 million dividend.

Her huge income was earned despite not releasing any albums or singles, and she didn't go on the road to play a run of live shows. However, the success of her album 21 has boosted her bank balance, despite being released three years ago.

Although Adele has been quiet musically for a while, she has been raising her 16-month-old son Angelo, with work now starting on her highly-anticipated third album.

Amanda Palmer Spends $1.2 Million Made from New Album

Amanda Palmer's 'Theatre is Evil'Amanda Palmer has spent all of the $1.2 million she raised to make her new album. The "Coin Operated Boy" singer got the astronomical amount by going directly to fans to fund her solo album, Theatre Is Evil, and although all the money has gone, it's all been spent wisely on her career.

"It's all gone. People look at it and they see a giant pile of money, but we're running a business. It doesn't make you rich, it just means that your volume of business has increased. The production of the CD, vinyl and art book, including shipping costs, was $300,000 alone. All the money [went] directly back on the product, the stage show, and the videos. I'd much rather live that way than make a compromised product."

MySpace is for sale

myspace sale

During an earnings call, News Corp. COO Chase Carey indicated that "now is the right time" to place MySpace "under a new owner". The news is not a big surprise, as things have been going downhill for the social network. Its owner, News Corp., has attempted to revive the property last Autumn with a site redesign, and while the site is still popular with some niche crowds, there's no question that Facebook took its place long ago. Still, Carey stays positive on the outlook of MySpace, saying “the new MySpace has been very well received by the market and we have some very encouraging metrics, but the plan to allow MySpace to reach its full potential may be best achieved under a new owner.” Of course, it's still unknown whether anyone would be interested in buying it.
