Mix Tape: More Money for Eminem, More Football for Faith Hill

-Eminem’s publishing company is owed money by Universal Music Group, according to the U.S. Court of Appeals. It was ruled that UMG needs to pay royalties for iTunes purchases and ringtone sales.
-Musical performers will help kick off the official start of football season. On September 9, Taylor Swift and the Dave Matthews Band will perform in New Orleans prior to the Minnesota Vikings/New Orleans Saints game. The pregame show will air on NBC and the NFL Network.
-Speaking of football, a familiar voice will sing us into the Sunday evening battles. Country star Faith Hill has been chosen to once again perform the “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” theme song. Faith has had that gig since 2007.
-The boys of New Jersey may soon take over Las Vegas. Bon Jovi is reportedly “excited” by a multimillion-dollar offer to take up residency at one of the area hotels.

Tour Notes: Bob Dylan, Snoop Dogg, Aerosmith and More

A number of acts will be hitting the road this year. Here’s hoping one of them comes your way:
- Aerosmith: The band will rock it out with ZZ Top later this summer. The tour begins June 10 in St. Louis.
- Austin City Limits: You can expect a number of big names at this October festival. Pearl Jam, Kings of Leon, Lily Allen, the Dave Matthews Band and the Beastie Boys represent just a sampling.
- Blazed and Confused Tour: Snoop Dogg, Slightly Stoopid and Stephen Marley will be trekking the country together starting on July 10.
- Bob Dylan: Beginning July 2, Willie Nelson and John Mellancamp will join the legendary folk singer during a 22-city tour of minor league baseball parks.
- Green Day: After a three-year hiatus, the group will resume touring this year. The 38-city journey starts July 3 in Seattle.

Dave Matthews Band Offering Free Download

Who doesn’t like a little free stuff these days?
Although we’re now less than 2 months away until the release of the group’s next album, the Dave Matthews Band is offering fans a sample to tide them over.
Starting today, “Funny The Way It Is,” the first single off of Big Whiskey & the GrooGrux King, is being made available via DMB’s website. The track will only be free for a short time only. Those who miss out can purchase it digitally starting next week.
Big Whiskey, the group’s first studio album in four years, will hit stores on on June 2. The release will be then followed up by a Today show concert performance three days later.

The teaming of Korea’s Nanovision and DisplayLink has produced MIMO USB Monitors. Both models were designed for users who want a quick glance, such as stock brokers and IM folk. The 7-inch LCD displays have a resolution of 800x480 and adjust orientation automatically. The UM-730 has a 1.3 webcam, headphone jac and microphone for 98,000 KRW ($78.00.) The high-end UM-750, in addition to everything on the 730, features a touchscreen and built-in DMB tuner with a price of 183,000 KRW (~$147.00.) Unfortunately, both are only available overseas for now.

Clix Gets Bigger Internally

iRiver has managed to keep up with the MP3 player competition by releasing 4GB and 8GB versions of its Clix. Both still have the same 2.2-inch AMOLED screen, D-click system, 24 hours of play life, and voice recorder. They still come with an included cable, earphones, and installation CD. New to the Clix are the colors pink and purple, and its addition of a DMB. Prices are $189.99 for the 4 gig and $239.99 for the 8 gig model.

Yukyng has unveiled their viliv X7 GPS DMB that runs on AU1250 600MHz CPU and supports TPEG/DMB. It features a 7-inch, 600 x 480 touchscreen as well as a cam and has image and text viewing capability. It holds up to 4GB storage that can expand to 8GB with an additional SDHC card. But the part we like best is the ability to connect to karaoke, so that if you manage to get lost, you can always sing until someone finds you and tells you to shut up. iRiver to Release New B20 PMP

iRiver has unveiled its new B20 PMP with a 2.4-inch TFT LCD screen, integrated mono speaker, DAB/FM tuner, multi-codec video and digital audio playback, and Flashlite game support. It also features a digital photo album and an SD card slot. The PMP will have access to 7 video and 10 audio channels with its advanced Dclick System. Arriving later this month, the DMB receiver will be available in 1GB, 2GB, and 4GB capacities and promises up to 27 hours of listening time.
