The OLED iPad mini Is Reportedly Close. Not Every Rumor About It Is Solid.

Apple iPad mini held in one hand, showing the Touch ID power button on the top edge

The iPad mini has the smallest and most stubborn fan base Apple has. It is the tablet people read on in bed, wedge into a jacket pocket, and keep for five or six years because nothing else is quite that size. It also goes the longest between updates, which means every mini rumor gets picked over harder than it deserves.

This round is the biggest in years. Reporting from Bloomberg, plus a scatter of supply chain leaks, points to a new iPad mini as early as October with an OLED screen, a much faster chip, and a sealed body that survives a splash. Apple has announced nothing, and these claims are nowhere near equally solid, so here they are sorted by how much weight the sourcing carries.

Apple iPhone Duo foldable open, showing the inner display and the hinge down the center

"Hold us accountable to that, please." That is Tom Marieb, Apple's VP of hardware engineering, talking to TechRadar about the crease down the middle of the iPhone Duo. Every folding phone shipped so far has grown one, and Apple has now invited everybody to come back and check on his.

The Duo is Apple's first foldable, it starts at $1,999, and it goes on sale October 23. Nobody outside Apple has folded one a few thousand times yet. Marieb's claim is that when you finally do, you will have a hard time seeing the line, and he would like to be judged on it.

Apple’s iPhone Duo Foldable Costs $1,999, and the Leaks Called Nearly All of It

Apple iPhone Duo foldable in Star White and Night Sky

Apple let everyone else spend six years working out folding phones in public. Today it showed its own. The iPhone Duo is a 5.4-inch phone that opens into a 7.6-inch one, it starts at $1,999 for 256GB, pre-orders begin October 16, and it goes on sale October 23.

The leakers earned a victory lap. They had the name, they had the roughly $2,000 price, they had the 256GB floor and the 2TB ceiling. They oversold one thing. Apple Pencil support over USB-C is coming later in 2026, not in the box on launch day.

TCL Printed a 28-Inch Tri-Fold OLED Monitor That Folds Down to 16 Inches

TCL CSOT 28-inch tri-fold portable OLED monitor prototype shown partly unfolded at IFA 2026

Portable monitors have a size problem. The ones big enough to be useful are a pain to carry, and the ones easy to carry are barely worth unpacking. TCL's display arm brought a possible way out to IFA 2026 in Berlin: a 28-inch ultrawide OLED panel that folds twice and shrinks down to roughly a 16-inch package.

You can't buy it. This is a prototype, and CSOT has been hauling it around the trade show circuit since MWC back in March, with no price and no release date attached. What makes it worth a second look is how the screen was made. Instead of the vacuum evaporation process behind nearly every OLED you own, an inkjet printer laid the glowing material down.

JMGO’s Iris Ultra Max Wants to Be the Projector You Can Watch With the Lights On

JMGO Iris Ultra Max 4K triple-laser projector

Most projectors end up in a closet for one reason: you have to turn your living room into a cave to use them. Draw the blackout curtains, wait for dark, tell everyone to quit opening the fridge because the light spills onto the wall. That friction is why a lot of people buy a projector, use it twice, and go back to the TV.

At IFA in Berlin, JMGO built its whole pitch around solving exactly that. The new Iris Ultra Max is a 4K projector that runs at 120Hz, uses a triple-laser light engine, and claims up to 6,500 ISO lumens. That last number is the company betting it can throw a picture bright enough to survive a room with the lights on. It is now heading to markets outside China, with preorders opening September 4 and units shipping October 19.

Alienware’s $800 AW3426DW Is a Gorgeous Ultrawide With One Big Catch

Alienware AW3426DW curved ultrawide QD-OLED gaming monitor

You know the moment when a game finally fills your whole field of view, the world stretching out past the edges of where a normal screen would stop, and you catch yourself just sitting there grinning? That is the feeling the Alienware AW3426DW is built to sell. At $800 for a 34-inch curved QD-OLED, it is Alienware's attempt to make that feeling affordable, and when everything lines up, it absolutely delivers.

The catch is that everything does not always line up. This is a stunning panel wrapped around a very specific idea of how you should be using it, and the moment you step outside that idea, the shine comes off fast. It is one of the best-looking monitors you can put on a desk for the money. It is also one that will happily leave a third of itself black if your game does not play along.

Dell announces 5K monitor sporting 5120 x 2880 resolution for $2500

Dell UltraSharp 27 Ultra HD 5k monitor

Dell has announced a new 5K display, clocking in at 27-inches with a 5120x2880 resolution. That's a staggering 14.7 million pixels, 70% more pixels than you'd find on a 4K monitor. The Dell UltraSharp 27 Ultra HD 5k display also impresses with 218 pixels per inch (ppi), matching the pixel density found on the 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display. A media card reader is also built-in, as are six USB 3.0 ports to up your connectivity game. Now that it's proven that larger format Retina displays are possible, surely Retina iMacs and Thunderbolt 2 displays can't be far behind, right? OS X Yosemite has code references to 5120 x 2880 resolution, so Apple may already be readying its desktop machines for Retina resolutions.

No solid release date for the panel was given, but it should be available for purchase by the end of the year for $2499.99.

Jay Z’s Free ‘Magna Carta’ Display

Jay'Z's 'Magna Carta... Holy Grail'Jay Z didn't pay to exhibit his new album artwork in Salisbury Cathedral. The "Picasso Baby" rapper choose Salisbury Cathedral in Wiltshire for the global reveal of the artwork for his new album Magna Carta ... Holy Grail because the religious building holds part of the original 787-year-old historical Magna Carta document.

The hip-hop star's black-and-white artwork went on display next to four pages from the original 1215 Magna Carta - a 63-clause charter setting out the origins of English democracy - and although he didn't pay for the stunt, it is rumored he will perform a private show for the Dean of the Cathedral, June Osbourne. "I hope he does play [a show for us]! That would make my children's year. And mine too!" she told NME.
