Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Home Entertainment, Music,
This morning Apple added a few new apps to the Apple TV, bringing VEVO, The Disney Channel, Disney XD, The Weather Channel, and the Smithsonian Channel to the streaming set-top box. As far as VEVO is concerned, the company released a statement that confirms that the entire 75,000 music video library is now available on Apple TV:
Apple TV users are sure to recognize the intuitive and efficient design. VEVO viewers are able to quickly browse videos by featured artists including all of the latest premieres. VEVO includes multiple modes of discovery – you can watch on-demand videos from any genre or simply select any video that piques your interest. If you have something particular in mind, perform a search and we will surface what you’re looking for right at your fingertips.
The Weather Channel allows you to see current weather conditions and forecasts, and access to featured content from the channel as well. The Smithsonian Channel lets you stream on-demand content. The two Disney apps require cable authentication to view the live and on-demand content, and is available through supported providers: AT&T U-verse, Charter, Comcast, Cox, Midcontinent Communications, Optimum, and Verizon FiOS. You can pick up the Apple TV for $99 from Apple.

Disney Channel Developing New ‘Boy Meets World’ Series
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Comedy, ABC, Cable, Announcements, Gossip,
Boy Meets World may be hitting the small screen again.
The Disney Channel is teaming up with the original show's executive producer Michael Jacobs to develop a sequel of the series, which would center on Cory and Topanga's daughter. The show is reported to have been (appropriately) titled Girl Meets World.
Casting is underway at the moment, and there is no official word yet as to whether Ben Savage (Cory), Danielle Fishel (Topanga), or Rider Strong (Shawn) - the three main cast members of the original series - will return.
The original sitcom aired on ABC from 1997-2003, totaling 158 episodes.

TV Talk: DWTS May Welcome Same Sex Couples, Gene Shalit Says Goodbye
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Kids, Prime Time, Reality, ABC, Cable, NBC, Dancing With The Stars, Gossip, Rumors,
-Could Portia DeGeneres find herself waltzing with a female professional on Dancing with the Stars? It’s believed American audiences could soon see its first same-sex DWTS pairing since the Israeli version recently did the same.
-Is Disney's Sonny with a Chance in jeopardy? It’s unclear how Demi Lovato’s decision to seek treatment for personal issues will affect production. The show was set to resume filming in mid-January.
-Today will be Gene Shalit’s final morning on the Today show. The longtime film critic will be signing off the program after 40 years. “It’s enough already,” the 85-year-old said.
-Speaking of retirement, this will be Jo Frost’s last season as Supernanny. "[Having children] is not an option when you are traveling and working 46 weeks out of the year. Proper balance will allow me to date and have a relationship and look at my own future of having a family," she explained.

Ashley Tisdale to Star in High School Musical Spinoff
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Kids, Music, Cable, News,
Ashley Tisdale is set to return as High School Musical character Sharpay Evans in a new film.
The actress will return to the Disney channel for Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure, a spinoff off the popular musical franchise. The project is set to be filmed this summer and will be released in 2011.
Ashley, 24, who will also be an executive producer on the movie, will be the only returning original member of the HSM cast.
The plot will see Sharpay and her dog, Boi, make their way from fictional school East High to Broadway after being spotted by talent scouts. During her attempt to become a theater star, she meets her match in a rival starlet.

Miley Cyrus Ditches Double: No More Hannah Montana
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Kids, Music, Prime Time, Cable, Cancellations,
The Disney Channel has confirmed that their banner series Hannah Montana will be ending after its fourth season, but that may not necessarily mean we’ve seen the last of Miley Cyrus on the network. She’s still bankable for Disney Corp, and I don’t think they’re ready to let her go it alone just yet.
According to one programming executive, “the episodes will continue to roll out at least over a full year.”
Shooting for the new season starts on January 18.
