When the Showtime series returns on September 26, Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) will have to add “single father” and “grieving husband who shows know emotions” to his list of responsibilities. How is he going to juggle it all and keep Quinn (Desmond Harrington) off his track? And how the heck does Julia Stiles figure into all of this?? I’m dying to know.

2010 Primetime Emmy Nominations



The road to the officially kicked off early this morning. Modern Family‘s Sofia Vergara (who received a nod) and Community‘s Joel McHale (who didn’t) were the ones who had the honor of reading this year’s list of nominees.

Although - with 17 nominations - once again topped off all dramas, 30 Rock did

not

lead the comedies. did. The freshman FOX series raked in a total of 19 noms, only a handful short of the overall leader. (HBO’s miniseries, The Pacific, received 24 mentions.) 30 Rock did receive 15 nominations, though, while Modern Family followed closely behind with 14.

The August 29 ceremony - which NBC will air live on both the East and West coasts - will be hosted by Jimmy Fallon. You can see a partial list of nominees after the jump.

TV Talk: Steve Carell’s Office Exit, Michael C. Hall’s Dexter Return

Steve Carell-Could The Office survive without Steve Carell? The comedian recently told the BBC that the upcoming season will “probably be” his last year.

-Dexter fans can breathe a sigh of relief. A “fully recovered” Michael C. Hall is expected to return to work this summer after battling Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

-HBO has new date for you to mark on your calendar. Entourage and Hung will both premiere on June 27, two weeks after True Blood‘s debut.

-Could Matt LeBlanc use some Friends? Both Thomas Haden Church and Claire Forlani have dropped out of Episodes, LeBlanc’s new Showtime comedy. Church blames scheduling conflicts; Forlani’s reason is unknown.

-Love is in the air on CNN. Anchors John Roberts and Kyra Phillips were recently engaged. Roberts proposed last weekend during a game of golf.

Beginning tomorrow, Showtime will be hosting an ALL ACCESS Free Preview Weekend. During the four-day event, non-subscribers will get the chance to view programs normally stacked up in their Netflix queue. In addition to a host of movies on the cable network’s regular channels, viewers will be able to tap into On Demand programming through Sunday, March 28.

Dexter’s Michael C. Hall Diagnosed with Cancer

One of Dexter Morgan’s biggest challenges was something he tackled off-camera.

Today, actor revealed that he has been receiving treatment for Hodgkin’s lymphoma. His disease, a form of cancer that is considered highly treatable, is currently in remission.

“I feel fortunate to have been diagnosed with an imminently treatable and curable condition, and I thank my doctors and nurses for their expertise and care,” the star said in a statement. It’s not known when Hall, 38, was first diagnosed.

The announcement comes days just before the annual —an event Hall and his wife, actress and costar Jennifer Carpenter, plan to attend.

2010 Golden Globe Nominations (TV)

The 2009-10 awards season kicked into high gear this morning with the official announcement of the nominations.

Here are some of the noteworthy mentions from this year’s list of TV nominees:

  • Freshman drama leads all TV nominations with a total of four - including mentions for Lea Michele, Matthew Morrison and Jane Lynch. Damages, Dexter, 30 Rock and Big Love all got three noms.
  • Although cable television dominated the Best Drama category, the major networks had a tight hold of the Best Comedy category.
  • Newbies recognized this year include Courteney Cox (Cougar Town), Thomas Jane (Hung), Edie Falco (Nurse Jackie) and .
  • Despite big buzz around Emmy time, Big Bang Theory‘s Jim Parsons did not get any love this time around. Meanwhile, Emmy-winner Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) was snubbed as well.
  • HBO, once again, leads all channels with 17 nominations. FOX and Showtime both had six each.

The 67th Golden Globe Awards with host airs Jan. 17 on NBC.
