Massage Me Jacket

Massage Me JacketWe think that the Massage me Jacket must have been designed by a couple of women whose men wouldn’t leave their gaming consoles. Hannah Perner-Wilson and Mika Satomi are behind the clothing made with a hacked Playstation Controller that takes two to use. One wears the jacket and the other treats the users back as a gamepad, since it has soft, flexible buttons. As long as the game lasts, the wearee earns the real bonus. The duo tells you give you some DIY tips on their site. We’ll take several, please.

Lexon Around Analog Clock

Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Design, Misc. Tech,

Around ClockLexon has developed the Around, an analog clock that works when the cylinder body moves around the static red arm. At a size of 11 x 5.5cm, the Anthony Dickens design is available in both black and white. The timepiece runs on a single included AA battery. The Around is available for £22.94 (~$50.00.) While we admire the design, we are wondering how practical it would turn out to be if you are on the wrong side of the arm.

Armani LCD HDTV

Armani TV

Designer Giorgio Armani isn’t satisfied with a mere cell phone that features his name. He and Samsung presented his premium 120Hz full at the Milan International Furniture Fair going on this week. Claiming that the inspiration came from his new 2008/09 Armani/Casa Home Furnishings Collection, the television comes in 46 and 52-inch models. Apparently his Brahms tea table was specifically designed to hold the TV. No price is available as yet, but we are still figuring out which came first, the TV or the table?

Pandora Doesn’t Let You Snooze

Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Design, Smart Home, Misc. Tech,

Pandora ClockThere is no way that you can hit snooze and still be able to do so with the Pandora Alarm Clock. Turn the thing off and just as you start to fall back to sleep, it will issue noises and, as you open your eyes, it plays animation on your ceiling to berate you about what you should be doing rather than hanging in bed. The imaging includes a shower, coffee brewing, a toaster, and tooth brushing. To see a demo and hear the strange sounds it makes, check designer Melanie Graf’s site. There is only one glitch to her prototype that we can figure. There would never be enough guilt to have to go through the routine day after day. Hmm. Maybe Pandora would be a good thing.

Project Runway Meets Ugly Betty

Christian Siriano It seems ‘s 15 minutes are nowhere close to being up.

In the past few weeks, the Project Runway winner has had a date with Posh Spice, been mocked on Saturday Night Live and created a dress for singer Kimberley Locke to wear on American Idol.  Now Siriano will be moving on to the next phase of his career: acting.

Come May sweeps, the designer will be appearing on the second best show suited for him.  He and Elle fashion director Nina Garcia will be stopping by the offices of Mode on .  Coincidentally, Siriano’s idol (Victoria Beckham) has also guested on the series.

No word yet as to what role Christian’s role on the comedy will be, but I’m hoping that it will somehow involve him brushing Wilhelmina off.  Better yet - maybe he should compete with Marc to be Amanda’s bestest friend.  Ooh….the possibilities!

Hourglass Watch Combines Time With Design

Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Design, Misc. Tech,

Sand+Time Watch

We know that almost everyone has one, but your egg timer probably hasn’t left the junk drawer in a decade. Designer Pavel Balykin has created the Sand+Time Watch to modernize the concept. The digital hourglass is used as a screen saver. If you want real numbers and an accurate time, you simply click a button. We are thinking that maybe we could get a company like Tokyoflash to turn Pavel’s prototype into a reality.

Katie Holmes: Fashion Designer?

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Movies, Clothing, Style, Rumors,

Katie Holmes has apparently proven that she knows how to spend money on clothes, so that must mean she’s qualified to design them as well. Right?

A recent issue of OK! magazine reported that Mrs. was in line to have her own label under the Giorgio Armani name.  The collection, supposedly titled ‘Katie Holmes for Armani’, would have eventually included items for toddlers, kids and women.  It was a story too ridiculous it was probably true.  But surprisingly, it wasn’t.  Or isn’t yet.

According to Holmes’ rep, the designing rumor was just that - a rumor. “Katie Holmes is not designing a children’s clothing line for Giorgio Armani.”  Who knows?  Maybe her rep planted the story in hopes of making it true.  I mean, really—what else does Katie have going on?  She’s already made a mess of her acting career (choosing to come back in and not the Batman sequel was not a smart move)—she might as well do something else.

Tokyoflash Carries Designer Watches

Issey Miyake Minimalist WatchTokyoflash, home of the incomprehensible line of wristwatches, will also be including those from Japanese designers for a limited time. We especially like Naoto Fukasawa’s minimalist watch that is more than just your basic timepiece. The site says it is supposed to “resemble the various moods of a human, using the position of the dials and hands.” Available in white or blue, the water-resistant Issey Miyake watch comes with free shipping and carries a price of ¥38,900 ($401.03.)
