Comic Book Jobs: Toxic Magazine

Posted by Tom Mason Categories: Editorials, Independent,

Toxic MagazineToxic, the British humor magazine for boys 7-12-years-old is looking for a designer.

Toxic's subjects "range from games to movies to sports to loads of other random stuff in features, facts & stats, puzzles, jokes, comics, competitions etc. In short, anything and everything that’s in a boy’s life." And the comics can be really funny.

They're looking for a "creative and experienced magazine designer with the vision to help take Toxic to the next level of its development," whatever that means for a British boy's humor mag.

You'll be working "in close collaboration" with the Art Editor and the Toxic team.

All the usual computer design skills are needed, as is magazine experience. And if you have experience in children's entertainment, even better.

Egmont is a huge Scandanavian publisher with lots of opportunities inside so if you get in and impress, there's always the chance to move forward. Or you could just stay at Toxic and design pages of boogers and farts and Justin Biebers.

But do hurry. The job listing closes on April 26.

You can read a bit more about Toxic at Lew Stringer's excellent British comics-related blog.

Alexander McQueen

UPDATE: McQueen had cocaine, tranquilizers and sleeping pills in his system when he died.

Fashion guru Alexander McQueen was found dead on Thursday morning in his London residence. In a statement issued by the designer’s office, reps said “At this stage it is inappropriate to comment on this tragic news beyond saying that we are devastated and are sharing a sense of shock and grief with [the designer’s] family.”

Scotland Yard has officially stated it is not treating the event as a suspicious death, though reports are circulating that the designer committed suicide. According to the statement, McQueen’s family “has asked for privacy in order to come to terns with this terrible news, and we hope the media will respect this.” Today, the world is very dark indeed.

Chloë Sevigny Wants to Design for Hermès

Chloe Sevigny for Opening CeremonyApparently Big Love star Chloë Sevigny is returning to her fashion roots. She recently made several remarks in an interview, heavily speaking about her desire to design a luxury line.

“I’d like to do something with a high-end company. You know, the way that Sofia Coppola did with Louis Vuitton. I thought it was very cool. There were no labels on anything. I like that. I prefer it,” she told the interviewer.

When asked by WWD about who she would like to collaborate with, she laughed at her far-reaching answer: “Hermès, maybe? That might be reaching a little high. Actually, NaNa would be a great collaboration!”
