Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Music, Portable Audio / Video

At today's Apple event, Phil Schiller introduced the updated iPod nano. It's got a multi-touch display that's easier to navigate than last year's model, with a much-improved fitness experienced. Also, as an answer to the watch band accessories out there, Apple's added 16 new clock faces to make the nano more watch-like. They're available in seven colors, and are available today--8 GB for $129, 16 GB for $149.

Seventh-gen iPod nano to bring back the camera?
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Portable Audio / Video, Rumors

There's further indication that the seventh-generation iPod nano could feature a camera.
A report obtained by AppleInsider that first appeared on Taiwanese Apple blog tw.apple.pro allegedly shows that the iPod nano will add a low-res 1.3 megapixel camera, eschew its clip, and retain its current small form factor and touch screen display.
Citing a source called "Ray" from California, the Taiwanese site claims the iPod nano will lose the clip because it would interfere with the camera.
The larger fifth-generation nano included a video camera, widescreen display, and video playback. These features were stripped from the sixth-generation edition of the device in favor of smaller form with a belt clip on the back and a multitouch display.

iPod touch 2010 unboxing

When Apple announced the Retina display packing, FaceTime rocking iPod touch 2010 model, we knew this thing was gonna be a hit. We’re currently hard at work on our iPod touch review, but in the meantime we’ve snapped a bunch of pics of what’s gotta be the best looking iPod touch to date. Seriously, this thing is thin to the point of ridiculousness. Obviously with the Retina display, the screen looks sharp, and you also gain camera on both the front and back of the unit. Take a gander at the gallery.
You can pick up an iPod touch from Apple.

Philips GoGear Muse 16GB PMP
Posted by Mark Rollins Categories: Portable Audio / Video

The GoGear Muse from Philips has some very interesting features including a 3-inch display, plus 16GB of internal storage space. Its battery is good for about 25 hours worth of audio playing, and five hours of video playback. As far as formats are concerned, the GoGear Muse can handle MP3, BMP, GIF, PNG, OGG, as well as Real Video and Real Audio formats. Cutting edge, we know. The GoGear Muse is planned to come to Singapore first for $244, after which point we’d hope to see it hit the States, although that is unlikely.

Sansa Clip + MP3 Player
Posted by Mark Rollins Categories: Portable Audio / Video
SanDisk, maker of everyone’s favorite microSDs, released the Clip a while ago, hoping that people would warm up to playing MP3s off of their specially made music cards instead of going to iTunes. It didn’t exactly revolutionize the digital music industry, but the company is obviously still high on the idea, what with the release of the Sansa Clip +.
The Clip + is supposedly “one of the best sounding MP3 players on the market,” and it features the microSD slot, a one-inch OLED display visible under sunlight, an FM tuner with 40 preset stations, and even a microphone for voice recording. You should be able to get the Sansa Clip + now in 2GB ($39.99), 4GB ($49.99), and 8GB ($69.99) models in red, blue, or black. Amazon is selling them at a 13% discount.

Samsung‘s YP-R1 has been on our gadget radar for some time now, and finally the latest Yepp DAP is ready for release in Europe next month. You have to like the features. A 2.6-inch touchscreeen, DivX compatibility, 8.9 millimeters thin, and something they like to refer to as the TouchWiz interface, which includes a Beat DJ feature which allows the user to “add in their own crackly voice and space-themed sound effects to songs.” It should be available for a price of $180 when it hits Europe, with Russia, China, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Taiwan coming soon after.

Bleeding Edge TV 315: Zune HD hands-on Interface Preview
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Full Episodes, Gizmatic, Features, Handhelds, HDTV, Microsoft, Podcasts, Portable Audio / Video, Videocasts, Videos, Wireless / WiFi
We were able to spend some quality time with the Zune HD a couple of days ago, and we put together this video walkthrough of the interface on the device. Unfortunately, we weren’t connected to Wi-Fi, so we weren;t able to show web browsing, downloading from the Marketplace, or Social, but this gives you a really good idea of what to expect when you get pick up your Zune HD (available for pre-order now) come September 15th.
Our favorite feature? I’ll probably be using the pinned items on the side quite a bit, especially for the recently synched stuff. Quick access to things like that have been much needed on touch devices. A runner up would have to be the quick scroll in the music browser. Again, it saves you on just quickly swiping a bunch of times, hoping to get to the right spot.
All in all, we’re impressed. Of course, we will have a full Zune HD review when we get our own device. For now, be sure to read up on everything we know about the Zune HD.
It’s official: Zune HD launching September 15, $220 16GB, $290 32GB
