Casio’s latest compact camera, the Elixim EX-Z33

Hot on the heels of announcing the EX-Z450 and EX-Z90 digital cameras, has just announced the new EX-Z33.  Features include 10.1 Megapixels, a 3x optical zoom, plus a 2.5-inch widescreen.  It also has automatic face recognition, best shot function, and auto-shutter mode.  There is also a built-in YouTube mode like a lot of other Elixim models.  There is no word on price just yet.

We have long been a fan of Kenwood, so it is nice to see they are offering a compact system. The UD-E77WSD has a CD player and SD slot for 32GB cards and a USB port for downloading tunes from your other SD cards or DAP. The system supports AAC, WMA, MP3, and WAV files as well as 24bit DAC high resolution sound. The player features Kenwood’s Supreme Technology and comes with a remote that is probably more difficult to use than the system itself.

Casio has unveiled its latest EXILIM digital cam, the Zoom EX-Z9. The compact camera features 8.1 megapixels of image res with a 3X optical zoom, a 2.6-inch LCD display, anti-shake DSP and 23 shot modes. Available in your choice of black, silver, pink, or orange, the digicam also has the company’s YouTube capture mode that allows you to record and upload videos in three simple steps. Less expensive than its brother, the EX-S880, the EX-Z9 will be available sometime this month with a $159.99 price.

Olympus Unveils Waterproof Compacts

Olympus has two digital compacts to add to their Stylus line, the 1030 SW and 850 SW (shock and water-proof.) The 850 features an 8 MP sensor, a 2.5-inch HyperCrystal II LCD display, and a 3x optical zoom. Drop it up to 5 feet and it bounces back, figuratively speaking. The camera can go down 10 feet in temperatures of about 14ºF. The 1030 has a 10.1 MP sensor, a 2.7-inch HyperCrystal II LCD display, and a 3.6x optical zoom. Olympus claims that it will handle a depth of 33 feet and a temperature as low as 14ºF. The 850 should be available later this month for at a price of ~$300.00 while the 1030 makes its debut in March for an extra $100.00.
