The very first Xbox One commercial is now live, with a major focus on NFL integration and fantasy football features! Check out the full video after the break, and if you haven't already pre-ordered your Xbox One console and you want to make sure you have one on November 22, you can pre-order on Amazon or The Microsoft Store now--just make sure you hurry!
Speaking of marketing, watch every Apple commercial from 1977 to present day. There's about 485 commercials, which includes the famous Mac vs PC, the technicolored hipster iPod dance ads and, of course, the iconic 1984 Macintosh SuperBowl spot directed by Sir Ridley Scott. One of my favorites, the first iPhone ad 'Surprised' from 2007.
It’s that time of the year where we can freely get down on junk food, trash talk, and look forward to the commercials just as much as the big game. We're talking about the Super Bowl (oh, and don't forget to enter our Big Game Giveaway!) Each year millions upon millions are dumped on commercials for mere marketing purposes.
Without a doubt, Volkswagen had one of the most successful commercials last year (see video after the jump to jog your memory) and is aiming to repeat its success again this year staying with the Star Wars theme. However, Volkswagen is not the only one fighting for airtime during the big game. Honda, Acura, and Cadillac have aired their Super Bowl commercials early this year and I want to focus your attention on the creativity of the ads.
Manufacturers know that millions will be watching the game on the 5th, and one would think that they would put effort into creating an entertaining commercial. Well one would think, but that’s not always the case. Let’s take a look at the Cadillac ATS spot, above.
Motorola has released a teaser for the forthcoming Xoom tablet.
"2011 Looks a lot like 1984. One Authority. One design. One way to work. It's time for more choices," says the clip.
It seems to be a shot at Apple, with the text of the video appearing over an image of a globe sporting the iPad maker's signature white ear buds.
The preview advertises the Xoom's speed, boasting its dual-core 1GHz processor, 1080p HD video playback, and 3G upgradable to 4G. It also emphasizes the tablet's flexibility. It will run on Android 3.0 Honeycomb and use Adobe Flash Player. The Xoom will also have a five-megapixel rear-facing camera and a two-megapixel front-facing camera. Apple's next-generation iPad is also rumored to include dual-facing cameras.
Wanna see how VZW is pushing the Verizon iPhone? Check out their first iPhone commercial, which focuses on the amount of time that customers have been waiting for the Apple smartphone to arrive. Great concept.
Apple’s got a new iPad commercial out, aiming to let us know all the things that the iPad is and can be. The ad is called “iPad is Delicious” and starts by showing off a cooking app, but it goes from there to show why it’s productive, artsy, current, friendly, learning, and yes, even magical. Check it out above. Here’s a list of a few of the apps featured in the ad:
Edit: If you were wonder what song was featured in the ad, it’s Never Stop by Chilly Gonzales.
Apple recently changed directions just a bit with the iPhone commercials, which now feature voices of people in different roles talking about the apps they use during certain experiences. Case in point, the latest ad, titled ‘Family Travel.’ It’s got a mom talking about using various apps to check flight status, check in right on the iPHone 3GS, watch movies, and even turn off the lights at home, remotely. Good approach, wouldn’t you say?
Oh man, you’ve got to love how Verizon Wireless has gotten so bold now that they’ve finally got a killer device in the Motorola DROID to brag about. You’ve also got to love how Apple is getting a taste of their own medicine, after running the “I’m a Mac” ads for years now. Verizon is aiming to highlight their phone offerings, as well as their huge 3G network, in their holiday commercials that dump on the iPhone and AT&T. There are three so far, and we must admit, they’re pretty clever. You can watch all three commercials, one of which sees the iPhone banished to the Land of Misfit Toys, after the break.
Expect to see this Street Fighter IV commercial all over television over the next few weeks. Remember, Street Fighter IV launches on February 17th on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, and from the time we’ve been able to spend with the game, it is going to be epic.
