Francisco Cabrera killed the Pittsburgh Pirates

Francisco Cabrera

With a 2-0 lead in the ninth inning of Game 7 of the 1992 National League Championship Series, the Pirates were on the brink of eliminating the Atlanta Braves and heading off to Toronto to face the Blue Jays in the World Series. The Braves had managed to score a run and load the bases while giving up two of their remaining three outs when Braves manager Bobby Cox sent his final bench player to the plate; Francisco Cabrera. Bucs pitcher Stan Belinda threw a 2-1 pitch to Cabrera, who singled into left, scoring David Justice and Sid Bream, winning the game and the series for the Braves. It was the eleventh at-bat for Cabrera of the season, and undoubtedly the greatest of his career. The Pittsburgh Pirates were not only expelled from the playoffs, they were basically eliminated from baseball altogether.

New Kids Back to the Old Routine

New Kids on the Block

Sure, I listened to the . I was a young girl in the 90s - find me another like myself who didn’t listen to this band. They rocketed to success, blazed a trail for all the boy bands which came after them, and sold 70 million albums while swinging their legs back and forth and wearing ripped-up jeans. I mean, what says superstars quite like that?

Now they’re all almost forty, and they’re going to attempt to do it (or…something sort of like it) again. Honestly, plainly, I’ve never been into aging rockers. I admire bands like The Rolling Stones and performers like Paul McCartney and sure I think they’re great, but there’s also something a little sad about almost-geriatric singers still playing an electric guitar (don’t believe me? Did you see the ?).

Britney Spears Staging a Comeback

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Award Shows, Music, Prime Time, MTV, Gossip,

Britney Spears Justin Timberlake brought SexyBack, but can Brit bring herself back from the tabloid nightmare she has fallen into? has released a new single called Gimme More - a catchy tune that’s burning up radio waves. The song opens with Britney’s voice, rife with attitude: “It’s Britney, bitch” – but don’t worry, it does get a little better from there. Spears will also be performing at the MTV VMAs this year, a stage she once made famous when she exchanged a sultry, mid-song kiss with pop Queen (whose crown will never truly be taken, all kisses and pop princesses aside).

Whitney Houston Preparing for Comeback?

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Reality, Gossip,

Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown The divorce is final, Bobby Brown is out of the picture, and the stage is set for the one thing that everyone’s been wondering: is Whitney Houston going to make a comeback? Half-hearted attempts in the past have failed, but now the songstress has a whole new reason to reach for the limelight again - she definitely will no longer be a part of Being Bobby Brown – or, for that matter, any other reality programming. So, Whitney’s warming up her vocals and getting ready to do what she used to do best: just sing. Houston is currently in the recording studio preparing to launch her comeback album, which early reports say are very good. Ne-Yo, R & B producer, is currently working with Houston to create some new tracks for her comeback album. Ne-Yo’s other clients include American Idol Dreamgirl Jennifer Hudson, who is also releasing a new album, and Michael Jackson.
