While covers of Beyonce songs aren’t an entirely new thing these days (you may/may not want to listen to Liza Minnelli’s version of “Single Ladies” here), good interpretations are still a joy to hear.
Never thought “If I Were a Boy” could be turned into a country hit? Well, then Reba McEntire - with this performance for CMT’s Unplugged - is about to prove you wrong.

Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood are going head-to-head in this year’s Country Music Television (CMT) Music Awards nominations. Underwood’s “Cowboy Cassanova” is up for both Video of the Year and Female Video of the Year in the award show’s preliminary round of voting - both categories Swift’s “You Belong With Me” is also nominated in. Swift picked up the awards in both categories in both 2008 and 2009 for “Our Song” and “Love Story” respectively.

Brooks & Dunn Talk About Upcoming Split

Nearly 20 years after releasing their first album, one of country music’s biggest duos has decided to call it a day.
Earlier this week, Brooks & Dunn announced to their fans that their long run will officially end next year. “After 20 years of making music and riding this trail together, we have agreed as a duo that it’s time to call it a day. This ride has been everything and more than we could ever have dreamed…. We owe it all to you, the fans. If you hear rumors, don’t believe them, it’s just time.” the message on the group’s website read.

Now that American Idol 8 is underway, it’s time to catch up on some of our former contestants:
Taylor Hicks: The Season 5 winner is just over a month away from waking up the Soul Patrol. On March 10, Modern Whomp Records, Hicks’ own label, will offer up The Distance. The CD will drop just six weeks after “What is Right,” the album’s first digital release, is made available. Taylor Hicks, the 32-year-old’s last major-label offering, sold 703,000 after debuting in 2006.

- Inside the Actors Studio (Bravo, 8pm): Season 15 premiere. “A conversation with Oscar-winning actress Goldie Hawn, who retraces her career journey and discusses her books, her tattoo and her mother’s death.” James Lipton will also retrace the moments when Hawn’s career started dying a slow death.
- Saturday Night Live Presidential Bash 2008 (NBC, 9pm): “A ready-for-prime-time political skewering, featuring new material and a collection of politically-themed clips from the show’s archive.” This could be your last chance to laugh before you cry.
- First Class All the Way (Bravo, 9pm): Series premiere. “Sara whips up a high-end getaway to Paris and Monaco for a clique of privileged women, but there’s a bump in the road when a passport goes missing.” I just hate to see a privileged woman miss out on a trip.
- The Hills (MTV, 10pm): “Audrina moves out.” Haven’t we seen this episode already? Oh wait - we just saw it unfold in Us Weekly.

What does a country superstar do when she’s not performing on stage? Well, Taylor Swift’s apparently just like any other 18-year-old. When she’s not being dumped over the phone, she’s talking to cats, fighting with her brother or lip-synching to someone else’s music. (In this case, Swift is mouthing the words to Katy Perry’s “Hot N Cold.”)
