2015 Holiday Gift Guide: Mission Belts

Mission Belts orange

The Mission Belt is an evolution in belt design, style, and function, and after wearing one for a number of months, I can whole-heartedly recommend it in our 2015 Holiday Gift Guide. The belt is sleek and clean, and provides a perfect fit for everyone. With no holes to stretch or wear over time, your genuine leather belt always looks great. The tip of the belt inserts into the ratchet belt buckle, where a locking mechanism holds the belt in place from the back. To remove the belt, just press the small metal lever on the bottom of the buckle, and the belt slides out of the buckle. You're no longer restricted to 1 inch size adjustments, but can get a perfect custom-fit every time. Not only will you look good, you'll feel good too, because one dollar from every Mission Belt sold goes to help hungry families worldwide become self-sufficient.

Taser-proof your clothes with carbon fiber

Tazer-proof clothing carbon fiber

Remember the scene in Batman Begins where Christian Bale takes a taser directly to his bat armor and doesn't flinch? If you found that pretty cool then get excited, because this same borderline-superhuman ability can be yours. Hackaday user Shenzhen claims to have developed a way to make stun gun-proof clothing.

You won't look as intimidating as the Batman but you can get away with more style since just about any piece of clothing can be converted into high tech shock-armor. You just need a layer of carbon fiber, and that's widely available, given that it is commonly used in upholstery fabric at under $20 per yard.

Taylor Momsen Doesn’t Use Her Sexuality to Shock

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Music, Clothing, Style, Features,

Taylor MomsenTaylor Momsen insists she doesn't use her sexuality to shock.

The 20-year-old singer posed naked for the front cover of her band The Pretty Reckless' upcoming album Going To Hell record, causing a storm on social media when she posted the artwork. On the LP sleeve Taylor is seen showing off her back which has a giant cross emblazoned on it with an arrow pointing to her bare bottom, but she is adamant the risque pose is artistically motivated.

"Everyone was like, 'Woah, she's naked.' But everything I do has an artistic purpose behind it, from clothing to my new record cover. I don't set out to shock - I've definitely matured and evolved. I'm just a person, I make art. My sexuality is there for a reason it's not just about lewdness," she said.

The former Gossip Girl actress admits she was perplexed by her sexuality in her teens but used clothes and fashion to learn about herself. "In the beginning it was me in corsets and stripper heels and all that - I was a kid, everyone thought it was so shocking because I was young and you have to be older to wear that stuff. I was a kid confused about sexuality and all of that and expressing that confusion in all of it. I think all teenagers express themselves in that way, I was just being very overt about it," she explained.

Prince Harry Spotted Shopping at Discount Retailer

Prince Harry at TK MaxxLike the rest of us commoners, it looks as though Prince Harry can't resist a good deal when he sees one, either.

Dressed inconspicuously in a cap, plain sweater, and blue jeans, the 28 year-old looked like any other customer when he was photographed shopping at British designer discount store TK Maxx (known as TJ Maxx on our side of the Atlantic). The British royal must have been taking cues from his sister-in-law, Duchess Catherine, who is known for recycling her clothes and mixing high fashion labels with more affordable pieces.

Having spent 30 minutes in the store - where, according to other customers, he was "relaxed and chatty" - Harry emerged with "T-shirts, a hoodie, other clothing and an iPhone case" in a plastic bag (clearly not opting for being very green that day).

Though it's not a stretch to see the Duchess shopping at such a store considering her more humble background, it is rather nice to see that even a prince isn't above saving some cash!

Madonna Backs Down from Wearing Muslim Bridal Dress

MadonnaMadonna has decided against wearing a Muslim bridal dress in her new music video over fears for her safety.

The 54-year-old singer was planning to don a "Terror Bride" outfit - a combination of a traditional Iraqi bridal veil and a US soldier's uniform - in the video for upcoming single "Superstar" as a statement against oppression against women and war, but her advisors convinced her to ditch the political stunt because of the outrage it would be likely to cause.

"Madonna had the outfit ready to go. She was really proud of it and said it was her 'Terror Bride' costume. She had paraded around in it and said she was going to wear it in her next music video. At first when people started telling her it was madness she just brushed it off. But when they mentioned that her actions could put her life at risk she decided to ditch it from her video and certainly won't be wearing it on stage," a source said.

The Celebration hitmaker - who is a devotee of Jewish offshoot religion Kabbalah - had already tried the costume on, and while she is said to be "really disappointed" about not wearing the outfit, she hasn't ruled out donning the attire in a music video at some point in the future.
