As near as they can figure, at 4:00 a.m. ET Santa left the North Pole. Other sightings are as follows: New Zealand 4:40 a.m., Japan 7:35 a.m., Great Wall of China 9:50 a.m., India 11:25 a.m., Cairo 3:00 p.m., Rome 4:40 p.m., Germany 5:10 p.m., Paris 6:00 p.m., and London 6:55 p.m. Looks like he is on his way to the States. Somewhat similar to ScroogeYourself is Santa Swing. It was created by Oddcast for Everyclick to draw attention to its search engine that helps more than 170,000 charities each time it’s used. Use your own photos or theirs, then upload a message that will be translated to audio or add your own sound files. Pass them on to your blog, Facebook, or friends. Try it yourself and remember to use Everyclick as your new search engine if you can get over Googling.

Eel Powers Up Tree Lights
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Misc. Tech, Science,
An aquarium in Japan lit up their Christmas tree with the help of a fishy friend. It took inventor Kazuhiko Minawa about a month to design the system. Two aluminum panels were placed in the eel’s tank as electrodes to harness the power, then cables were attached to them to supply electricity to the tree.
“If we could gather all electric eels from all around the world, we would be able to light up an unimaginably giant Christmas tree,” Minawa said.
Funny, we were thinking the same thing and wondering if, after the holidays, we could use one to run some of our home appliances. You can see the slimy fellow in action on MSNBC.

USB Santa Doubles as Hub
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Misc. Tech, Toys, USB,
We always wonder when we find gadgets that we cannot trace farther than the vendor who tells you almost nothing about the product. Such is the case with the Crystal Pyramid Santa USB 2.0 4-Port Hub. We know it is 3.78 x 3.78 x 3.94-inches and weighs 11.36 oz. We are going to assume here that when plugged in it doubles as a snow globe. That could be a nice touch until the movement drives your entire office nutso. We didn’t notice an on/off switch. The Santa will silently ho-ho-ho for you at a price of $13.86 with free shipping for the holidays.
