Flip UltraHD and UltraSD announced

Flip UltraHD

Pure Digital has finally and officially acknowledged the existence of the Flip UltraHD and UltraSD mini camcorders, and we felt it best to bring you the full rundown. The Flip UltraHD features 8GB of internal storage and records in 720p. Compared to the Flip MinoHD, the Ultra versions feature a 2-inch screen, compared to the Mino’s 1.5-incher. Our favorite feature, though, is that the FLip Ultra series ships with a rechargeable batery pack, which can be removed and replaced with AA batteries if need be. That, we can appreciate. The UltraHD battery will last you a good three hours, while the UltraSD will go for five—of course, with that one, you give up the whole 720p recording thing. Both feature the now common fold-out USB connector that the Flip cameras are known for.

You can grab a Flip UltraHD now for $200, or the UltraSD for $150.

Kodak Zi6 HD Pocket Video Camera unboxing gallery

Kodak Zi6 box front

Continuing our look at pocket HD camcorders, we were able to get our hands on a new Kodak Zi6 Pocket Video Camera, which shoots in 720p high definition, at a full 60 frames per second. In case you were wondering, that’s unique for ultra-portable HD camcorders. There isn’t much storage space on-board, but that is rectified by the SD card slot, which supports up for a 32 GB SD card. The Kodak Zi6 also includes an SD AV cable, as well as an HD cable, allowing you to plug the camera directly into an to view the content on it. It takes two AA batteries, and they throw in two rechargeable AAs, as well a charger. We’ve taken a bunch of images of the device, which you can find in our Kodak Zi6 gallery. If you are interested in picking on up, here’s a Kodak Zi6 coupon link, where Kodak is offering $30 off. Not bad.

Help Choose Superbowl Commercial

Crash logoHere’s your chance to participate in a video commercial contest that may get you a couple of free tickets to the Superbowl XLIII Feb. 1. It’s too late to enter your own video, but you can still vote on the others done by amateur videographers. Last year’s Dorito spot was really amusing and we expect with all the mini-camcorders floating around these days this year will have similar results. Voting ends Jan. 25. By the way, we saw a glimpse of one that could be eTrade’s entry with a bunch of talking babies, similar to last year’s spot. Don’t they know that massive amounts of spitting up is not good for keyboards?

RCA announces EZ209HD, their slimmest Small Wonder camcorder ever

RCA EZ209HD

We are loving just how prevalent small HD cams are becoming, and the EZ209HD looks to be an impressive unit when it comes to that category. This is the company’s slimmest and “sexiest” (their word, not mine) Small Wonder camcorder ever, and captures high definition video while sporting a 2-inch display. Even better, though, unlike some of the other handheld HD flash camcorders we’ve seen, the EZ209HD even has an HDMI port, so you can plug directly into a television to watch your home movies. The rechargeable battery lasts for two hours, which is also nice, and the camera even supports a 60fps Sports Mode for fast action. Once your recordings are done, you can easily upload them to YouTube and Box.net. You’ll be able to get your hands on an RCA EZ209HD by the end of this quarter, and it’ll sell for $119.99.

Full press release available after the break, which includes details on the EZ207 as well.

Kodak ZI6

If you wanna pick up a YouTube-ready video camera for Mom, we are hard pressed to find something as good as the Kodak ZI6, for the price. This little camera shoots in 720p high-definition at 60 frames per second, and can also take regular old still images as well. Other cameras, like the can’t do that. It supports SD cards in sizes up to 32GB, which basically means you’ll be able to shoot video until your (rechargeable) battery dies, as opposed to worrying about how much space you have left. You can pick them up from Kodak for $153, they’re available in pink, as well as black. Get it quick though, because they are on sale now. After 12/15, they go back up to their normal price of $179.
