Video: The New ThunderCats Are Here!

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Animation, Kids, Cable, Gossip, Video,

Cartoon Network is rebooting ThunderCats, and we’re pretty psyched. The big screen version of the cartoon is currently on hold, but there are still new adventures to be enjoyed. Thundera is still in danger... but thankfully, there is a hero who’s ready to take care of business. View the trailer for the new ThunderCats in the video above.

Comcast’s 24-hour Xfinity 3D channel now live

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: HDTV, Home Entertainment,

Xfinity 3dComcast has launched its long-awaited (by some) 24-hour 3D channel, Xfinity 3D. This adds to Comcast's other 3D offerings like ESPN 3D, the 3D events channel, and the 3D on demand movies. The channel launched with broadcasts of a Kings of Leon concert and the NHL Heritage Classic 2011 hockey game.

You can expect 3D nature documentaries, animated features, concerts, sporting events, and performances, although the schedule doesn't look to include too many hit movies or concerts at the moment. That said, this could be similar to years ago when a few HD channels were first lit up with nature shows and soccer games, giving HDTV owners something to watch. What do you think? Will dedicated 3D channels spur sales of 3D television sets?

Roseanne Barr: New Lifetime Star?

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Reality, Cable, Gossip,

Roseanne BarrRoseanne Barr is going to back on TV thanks to Lifetime.

The cable channel is doing a Roseanne-centric reality series based on the comedienne’s efforts to run a macadamia nut farm. And we’re not making any of that up.

The 40-acre farm is located on Hawaii’s Big Island. Roseanne will be working with her boyfriend Johnny Argent and her son Jake in a “take-no-prisoners approach in shaping a Utopian dream for herself and her loved ones.”

And their dream, we guess, is to run a nut farm. To each their own.

The cast of MTV’s Jersey Shore is about to become representative of Italian Americans to actual Italians. For Season 4, the cable channel is sending its reality stars to the Old World.

Charlie Sheen Surprises Drew Carey at Improv Show

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Television, Photos,

Charlie Sheen unexpectedly showed up at a taping of Drew Carey’s Improv-A-Ganza, a new series which will begin airing on GSN in March. The actor’s appearance wasn’t just a surprise for host Carey and a whole group of comedians -- GSN had no idea he was going to be there, either.

Sheen appeared on stage during a live performance at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, joining the cast of comedians for a segment that involves creating a story on the spot.

In the photo above, Sheen is pictured with Colin Mochrie, Carey, Greg Proops, Chip Esten, Jeff Davis and Ryan Stiles.

The Glee Project: On Again

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Reality, Cable, News,

When Glee first premiered, and subsequently became wildly successful, there was lots of buzz about a reality show based upon the series. The idea was nixed just months later, disappointing many fans. But, we’ve got good news: The Glee Project is happening -- and it's hunting for new talent.

The new reality show gives hopefuls the opportunity to star in seven (yes, seven!) episodes of the popular series, but don’t expect American Idol-style auditions if you tune in. According to a recent statement, executive producer Dante Di Loreto wants to nurture new talent, not "make fun of people" who don’t have enough of it.

Look for The Glee Project on Oxygen in June.

Onion SportsDome: Comedy Central’s Promising Premiere

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, Prime Time, Cable, Video,

Tuesday was a big night for Comedy Central.

The evening marked the return of popular series Tosh.0, which became a solid lead-in for the channel’s side-splitting new series Onion SportsDome. And if you missed the premiere, it’s time to go on a TiVo hunting mission right now … because this is probably the best show of the season.

Brought to you by The Onion, the SportsDome is part parody, part satire and hysterical through-and-through. With segments like “Who Would You Kill,” Onion SportsDome shows us what all sports shows should look like. Hosts Alex Reiser and Mark Sheppard (played by Matt Walton and Matt Oberg) offer gut-busting deadpan delivery to lead the series.

The show’s total irreverence for all things sports makes it engaging and absolutely unique. We’re already hungry for more, but unfortunately the Dome won’t be back with a new episode until next week.

Sarah Palin Quits Alaska Show?

Don’t act surprised. Rumor has it that the woman who resigned as Alaska’s governor has decided to walk away from her TLC reality show.

It seems that Sarah Palin’s Alaska -- which was based on enjoying everything the state has to offer -- has reached the end of its one-season run. TLC just might have to give Kate Gosselin another show.

TLC has offered no official comment, but producer Mark Burnett has not returned to Wasilla, Alaska to begin work on Season 2. The show nabbed 3.2 million viewers with its premiere, big numbers for cable, and sources say that Palin enjoyed making the show.

So why would she quit while she’s ahead? Most are speculating that the former politician wants to be ready for the upcoming election season, and she just can’t commit to reality TV and being the next president all at the same time.

Be afraid. Be very, very afraid.

Alec Baldwin ‘Interested’ in Political Office

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Movies, Television,

“It’s something that I’m very, very interested in,” actor Alec Baldwin told CNN’s Eliot Spitzer, when asked if he would ever get into the political game.

“I do believe that people want to believe that someone who deeply cares about the middle-class ... would like to seek public office."

But then again, Baldwin seems committed to his current career.

He qualified his statement with this: "To quit [acting] now when it really feels good and doing it feels good would be an enormously difficult thing to do.”

"What's missing is  ... people who have not lost sight of what the middle-class in this country needs.” (Because, clearly, Alex Baldwin knows just exactly what that is.)

The actor's interview with CNN will air Wednesday on Parker Spitzer.

Dr. Drew Joining News and Views Network

Dr. Drew Pinsky

Dr. Drew Pinsky is branching out to another cable show. The Celebrity Rehab star and Loveline host will soon have his own series on CNN’s HLN network, the "news and views" channel.

Beginning in the spring season of 2011, Dr. Drew will begin hosting a show where he talks about current headlines and events. The series will debut shortly after the fourth season of Drew’s Celebrity Rehab wraps on VH1.

HLN vice president Scot Safon says Pinsky is “an ideal fit” for the network. “Dr. Drew will shed light, provide crucial information and give viewers something to talk -- and think -- about,” he said.

Dr. Drew is excited about the project. "I'm looking forward to becoming part of the HLN family and digging deep to bring out the stories behind the stories that people are talking about,” he recently told CNN.
