TiVo and Comcast set to integrate Xfinity On Demand library into Premiere boxes

TiVo Premiere

If you're a TiVo Premiere owners with Comcast Xfinity service, you've got one more reason to be excited, as the companies have announced that they're bringing Xfinity On Demand programming directly into the TiVo Premiere interface. One of the main gripes many have with TiVo is that, if you want to enjoy On Demand and Pay-Per-View content, you still need a cable box from your provider, since the TiVo can't access that stuff. This agreement changes that a bit. Soon, if you are one of the many Xfinity customers out there, you'll be able to browse the On Demand content right on your TiVo. They don't make mention of PPV specifically, but even if that isn't a part of this, you can always order those by phone as well. Given those two facts, this will make it possible for a TiVo Premiere box to serve as your only cable box, which can knock off as much as $20 per month from your cable bill, depending on your location.

Of course, since both TiVo and Comcast and two of the slowest moving companies in existence, this is going to be a slow, gradual rollout. They are going to start with the largest markets, with the first expected to be the San Francisco Bay Area, with additional markets to follow. No timeline or anything has been given.

Any Xfinity customers excited about this?

Kirstie Alley: Cable TV’s Most Wanted

Kirstie Alley, Dancing With the Stars

For some celebs, Dancing With the Stars is a great career move. TV Land and HBO have both recently approached Kirstie Alley since she’s been on the show, asking her to headline two scripted comedy series.

Of the TV Land project, Alley said the series is “being written for me right now that I really love the concept of.” She had less information about the HBO gig; there’s no plot in place at the moment. Either way, we'd love to see Kirstie on a comedy series again.

Italian Jersey Shore Facing Strict Rules From Florence Mayor

Jersey Shore

The new season of the Jersey Shore, set in Italy instead of Jersey, won’t be anything like the reality show fans have come to know and love. The mayor of Florence, where the show is scheduled to be filmed, has set forth several rules that could completely change everything.

Mayor Matteo Renzi says that cast will not be allowed to be filmed in bars and clubs in which alcohol is served, and cannot be filmed drinking in public. Jersey Shore will not be filmed in a way that promotes Florence, Italy as a “drinking town,” and should be filmed in a way to promote Italy -- featuring culture and food.

Which means we might have to watch scenes of Snooki eating. With luck, MTV will just go ahead and pull the plug on the show right now.

VIDEO: Sarah Palin Votes Yes for Donald Trump Investigation

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Television, Legal Issues, Videos,

During a recent appearance on Justice with Judge Jeanine (it’s on Fox News), Sarah Palin said that she agrees with Donald Trump and supports his birther investigation. You can hear her comments in the video above.

Trump has publicly attacked President Barack Obama, demanding to see his birth certificate, because evidently he watched a lot of Fox News during the 2008 election. Sarah Palin, whose party lost the election, was quick to take his side. She appreciates “that the Donald wants to spend his resources on something that so interests him and so many Americans.”

MTV Approves Two Jersey Shore Spin Offs

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Reality, Cable, MTV, Gossip,

Pauly D, Snooki, JWowwLooks like that 15 minutes is going to stretch to 30 after all. MTV is moving forward with two new spin-offs from their popular reality series Jersey Shore, and that means Snooki is going to be on TV for awhile longer.

Nicole Polizzi (Snooki) and Jenni Farley (JWoww) will co-star in their own series, while Paul Delvecchio (Pauly D) will headline a series of his own. Both new shows will debut in 2012... ironically, the same year the Mayans predicted the world would end.

Both projects have been ordered to produce 12 episodes and neither is set in the Jersey Shore. Pauly D will take his act on the road “as one of the country’s most in-demand DJs,” according to a press release from MTV. He will “chase his dream with the help of the best friends he grew up with in Rhode Island by his side.” Snooki and JWoww will “deal with life and love when the vacation is over.”

Glenn Beck’s Fox News Show is Over

Glenn BeckBut… what will Jon Stewart talk about on weekday nights? Glenn Beck is leaving his popular Fox News show, putting an end to his controversial but extremely attention-getting run on the Glenn Beck Program.

Beck will still work with Fox News through his company Mercury Radio Arts. He joined Fox at the start of 2009 and immediately doubled ratings in his time slot (and gave left-wing pundits too much to talk about). But his energetic persona has managed to create a lot of controversy, too. He accused the President of the United States of racism and lost Fox News approximately 400 advertising agreements (the number of advertisers who refused to support Beck's program with their ads).

Fox News channel chairman and CEO Roger Ailes had very little to say on the topic. “Half of the headlines say he’s been canceled… the other half say he quit. We’re pretty happy with both of them.”

What the hell does that mean? We’ve no idea, but good luck trying to get a straight answer out of Fox News on any day of the week.
