Did you know that Bluetooth technology has now been around for a decade? The Bluetooth Special Interest Group wants to make sure you are aware, as they have thrown up a page that highlights the history of the wireless technology that we know and love. On the page you can check out the different milestones for Bluetooth, starting back in 1998, grab a few free ringtones, and even enter to win a Samsung YP-P2 widescreen digital media player. Heck, even if you don’t care about all that Bluetooth does for us in the world of gadgetry, free stuff is always cool, right? All you have to do in order to enter is vote for your favorite stereo Bluetooth product. The contest closes in a few days, so make haste and head on over.

Bluetooth SIG just announced the new spec for Bluetooth, that being Bluetooth 2.1+EDR. We had Mike Foley head on over to Gear Live headquarters to give us a first look at what is improved in the new spec, and to show off the ultra-cool near field communication technology that is now a part of Bluetooth. If that isn’t cool enough, we can also expect up to 5x better battery life out of our Bluetooth devices as well, as it pertains to Bluetooth battery drain. Check the video for all the details.
