Sanyo has unveiled their Contactless Charger Set for the Wii controller. Place your remote into the stand and it will charge in about 220 minutes. Licensed by Nintendo, the device can handle up to 4 controllers sequentially. The custom nickel-metal hydride batteries will last for about 6.5 hours of play. Available in Japan August 25, the set includes a battery pack, charger, and AC adapter. We suspect it won’t be long before every gamer can have one.

Duracell My Pocket Charger

My Pocket ChargerDuracell is apparently trying to understand that there is a specific need for speed charging. Their My Pocket Charger needs two AA batteries that you load into the device, then connect to your MP3 player, cell phone or other electronic device and they rapidly recharge it. The portable power source comes with two of their Coppertop batteries and we found one of the iPod chargers at Comp USA for $19.99 after instant $3.00 rebate. We see a problem here in that you have to toss the batteries after they work their magic. Would that Duracell could stick to more environment-friendly products.

Jelly StickEven if we are not particularly into lipstick or girly-intended products, we still appreciate the Jelly Stick phone charger. Available in gold, silver, blue, pink and macho black, the tube-shaped device will give your cellie an extra hour of talk time with the use of a AA battery. This would be a great thing for trips, especially those long car rides when it seems that our cell phone is never charged in case of an emergency.

Panasonic Evolta Batteries

Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Misc. Tech, Storage,

EvoltaPanasonic has certainly gone out of its way to promote their new Evolta (Evolution + Voltage) AA battery cell. They sent a 5 oz. robot climbing up a rope suspended from the Grand Canyon for almost 7 hours on a pair of them and earned a place in the Guinness Book of World Records as “the longest-lasting AA alkaline battery cell.” If the 6.7-inch blue bot, also named Evolta, looks familiar, it was designed by robotics scientist Tomotaka Takahashi. Although the batteries are about 15% higher than the competition at $5.40 for four, they are already doing so well in Japan that Panasonic plans to send them overseas later this year.
