Listen to a BlackBerry exec awkwardly ignore questions about Apple on BBC
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Smartphones, Corporate News, Handhelds,
Earlier today, BlackBerry (formerly RIM) announced the first two BlackBerry 10 devices in the BlackBerry Z10 and BlackBerry Q10. Shortly after, the company's European MD, Stephen Bates, appeared in a BBC radio show, and gets asked multiple times about what the company has learned from Apple and the iPhone over the past few years. That's where it gets awkward, since Bates no-sells the questions time and time again, ignoring the direct questions point blank. BlackBerry may have a couple of new devices and a new name, but the more things change, the more they stay the same.

Awkward TV: Wrong Person Named Winner of Australia’s Next Top Model
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Reality, Video,
This is something even Ryan Seacrest could learn from.
What should have been a moment of celebration for the winner of Australia’s Next Top Model turned into a moment of embarrassment for everyone involved—especially for the host.
Although Sarah Murdoch was initially told 19-year-old Kelsey Martinovich (the girl seen speaking first in the clip) had won the competition—Amanda Ware (seen in red) was the actual winner.
Cue the video to the :50 mark to witness the awkwardness kick in.

Awkward TV: Anchor Imagines Christina Hendricks Naked
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Gossip, Video,
Awkward exchanges - as hard as they can be to watch - often come with very important lessons. This moment between KTLA’s Brian McFayden (yes, of MTV fame) and Mad Men‘s Christina Hendricks comes with two.
1. Note to reporters: It’s okay to imagine Christina Hendricks naked. Many people have. Just don’t tell her when you’re doing it – and don’t admit in on live television.
2. Note to any female who might be lucky enough to have Hendricks’ body: Don’t ever tell a man you were “running a bath.” This will only lead to uncomfortable moments – especially if other women nearby are forced to listen.

Awkward TV: Jimmy Kimmel Embarrasses Jay on Leno’s Own Show
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Prime Time, Talk Shows, NBC, Video,
Want to know why The Jay Leno Show is being canceled? Because viewers are laughing at Jay, not with Jay.
Even though Jimmy Kimmel devoted Tuesday’s show to mocking Jay Leno, he somehow scored an invite to appear (remotely) on The Jay Leno Show last night. Was it because Jay knows how to laugh at himself? (He does…only when he’s making the jokes.) Was it because Jay thought he could somehow turn the tables on Kimmel? (I can’t tell if he tried.) Was it because he thought his ABC competitor would say sorry? (Jimmy doesn’t know how to apologize to men with “$800 million.” He only knows how to make them feel even worse.)
Watch the awkwardness kick in around the 2:45 mark.

Awkward TV: Jesse Jackson Confused for Al Sharpton
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Cable, News, Video,
There are two things Jesse Jackson doesn’t like: green eggs and ham...or being confused with Al Sharpton.
During in interview yesterday with Jackson about income inequality, MSNBC anchor Contessa Brewer made the mistake of calling this reverend by that other name. An awkward pause soon follows.

Awkward TV: Not Feeling Good About David Hasselhoff
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, NBC, Video,
If you were to combine Patrick Swayze’s “She’s Like the Wind” with Katie Holmes’ So You think You Can Dance performance and any musical number from William Shatner, you might get this.
On last night’s broadcast of America’s Got Talent, the audience was forced to endure a performance from “a real American icon.” (Those were Nick Cannon’s words, not mine.)
“He acts, he sings, he dances and he also talks a lot on this show. With a Hofftastic performance of ‘Feelin’ Good,’ give it up for David Hasselhoff!”
Note to Heidi Montag: If you’re going to suck, at least do it live.

Awkward TV: Heidi Montag’s Laughable Body Language
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Specials, NBC, Video,
Sadly, this is what our country had to offer the Miss Universe pageant tonight. (Yes - people outside the US can also watch the event.)
Tip: If you keep the volume down, the poorly danced number is just as humiliating/entertaining. (It also spares you from having to hear Yaz’s “Situation” butchered for Heidi Montag‘s lip-syncing purposes.)
After watching the performance, let us know what you think. Would you rather purchase this song, “Body Language,” or “Tardy For The Party” from Kim Zolciak?

Awkward TV: Kate Gosselin and Regis Philbin
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Daytime, Prime Time, Reality, Talk Shows, Video,
I’m not sure what’s more painful to watch—Jon Gosselin going through a midlife crisis or Regis Philbin making uneducated statements (again).
During a pre-taped interview with Kate Gosselin, Philbin openly admitted that he was not a follower of Jon & Kate Plus Eight. Although that reveal should have immediately disqualified him from the conversation, the Live with Regis and Kelly host then proceeded to add his two cents to the divorce matter.

Awkward CNN Moment of the Day

When it comes to financial matters, some people cringe…others have an awkward sexual encounter on live TV.

Gary Busey Freaks Out Jennifer Garner, Laura Linney
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Award Shows, Cable, Gossip, Video,
During E!‘s red carpet coverage of the Academy Awards, actor Gary Busey hit the trifecta when he managed to weird out Ryan Seacrest, Laura Linney and Jennifer Garner.
You know a situation is extremely uncomfortable when two professional actresses can’t act like it was all spontaneous fun. After being mauled by Busey, the Juno star then irritatingly referred to him as ‘this man’ before (understandably) running away. Seacrest was then left to get rid of the actor as gracefully as possible.
