JVC HP-SX505 Neodymium Earphones

JVC has a new pair of Neodymium in-ear canal headphones with a frequency response of 8Hz to 22,000Hz, a 104 dB/mW at 1 kHz sensitivity, a maximum power input of 200mW, and a 10ohm driver diameter. Similar to the company’s HA-SX500, the brass ring on the HP-SX505 supposedly reduces vibration and energy loss. Look for the dynamic earbuds with their 0.8m cable to make their debut in August with a price of €80 (~$125.00.)

Unboxing Live 039: Monster Beats by Dr. Dre Headphones

The Beats by Dre headphones were originally announced at CES 2008, where we were able to get our first experience at listening to the headset. As we noted in our video back then, we were thoroughly impressed. The sound was killer, with fantastic bass. The headphones were well thought out, shipping with audio cables that fit into the original iPhone, and even including a cable that has a microphone on it so that you can take phone calls.

The Beats by Dr. Dre were conceived by Dr. Dre himself, and are mutually designed with Monster Cable. The headphones feature both a unique and futuristic style, as well as newly developed sonic technologies, which result in outstanding performance.

In this episode, we unbox the Beats by Dr. Dre. Included in the box are the headphones themselves, a red audio cable (which fits into the original iPhone), a customized iSoniTalk cable (which also fits into the iPhone, and has a microphone so that you can use the Beats to talk on the phone), cleaning cloth, a studio jack, and protective carrying case.

You can find them soon for $349.95, which is $50 less than they were originally announced for.

Olympus LS-10 Linear PCM Recorder

Let the bootlegging begin. Olympus has released the LS-10 Recorder, which they claim is like having a portable recording studio with results that are “better than CD quality.” Features include an LCD panel with level meter and peak indicator, built-in stereo mics, 2GB of storage space, and an SD card slot. Once you record, editing is possible with CUBASE LE4 software with 48 soundtracks and an assortment of effects. Compatible with either PC or Mac, the LS-10 can be had for ~$532.00.

Greenhouse Buta Pig Earphones

Pig Earbuds We wish that GreenHouse had photographed these earbuds with a head so we could have seen just how ludicrous they look when in actual use. The Buta Earphones go in one ear and out the other and were designed to cut out extraneous noise. They have an impedance of 16 ohms, a playback frequency of 20Hz-20KHz, weigh only 17 grams, and have a 0.9m cable. Available in small, medium, and large, and in colors of pink, white, and black, you can pick up a pair for $35.99.

Claiming to be the thinnest MP4 player on the planet, Chinavasion’s device is only 4.5mm wide and holds 4GB of internal flash memory. It also features button control, a mic recorder, and FM tuner. Fluent in almost 20 languages, it is USB 2.0 and 1.1 compatible, has a 1.8-inch (160x280 resolution) screen, and a bit rate of 32 to 320Kbps. Compatible with Windows and Mac, it supports MP4s, MP3s, WMAs, ASFs, and WAVs. The MP4 Player comes with a USB cord and earphones at a price of $39.38.

RedKaraoke Sings in English

RedKaraoke logo Europe’s fave site for wannabe singers, RedKaraoke, has been launched in an English version. They claim they are the largest site of their kind with over 14,000 songs and over 400,000 users. You can record both audio and video, compete with rankings, and a Tone Control Tool will make you sound even better. The site utilizes MIDI and KAR files, which can convert almost any song into a karaoke track. Created last year by brothers Miguel Angel and Richard Diez Ferreira, the site is free since it generates its funding through advertising and sponsorships.

Creative PCI Express Sound Blaster Card

Creative Sound Card Gamers, time to get excited with a way to make your fave video game more lifelike. Creative has released their PCI Express Audio Sound Card. Connect to your home theater system with a single cable for Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound. The company promises super 3D positional audio with X-Fi CMSS-3D and great EAX 5 sound effects even with headphones. You should also get clearer voice chat when you plug in your mic. You can “hear it all,” as Creative says, for $149.99.

Norway Releases First Blu-ray Audio Disc

TrondheimSolistene Divertimenti Leave it to Norway to come up with the first Blu-ray audio disc. The TrondheimSolistene Ensemble, which has been together since 1988, has produced a two-fer set titled Divertimenti. The first is a SACD while the second is BD and is compatible with the formats 2.0 LPCM, 5.1 LPCM, 5.1 DTS HD Master Audio, 5.1 Dolby True HD, 5.1 Dolby Digital. The 69 minute album was produced on the 2L label and has a price of NOK 101,00 ($20.14.)
