Creative Zen MX PMP

Zen MX Creative Japan has announced their latest Zen player. The MX 100/200 is available in either 8 or 16GB. It combines a DAP and MP3 player with a 2.5-inch LCD display screen. At a size of 83.2 x 55 x 11.9mm and a weight of 66g, it is compatible with WMV and DivX video files, and MP3, WMA and AAC audio files. Look for the debut of the Zen MX in May.

Sony Walkman E-Series MP3 Players

Sony has updated their USB Walkman E-Series, the 2GB NW-E042 and 4GB NW-043, and added an 8GB NW-E044. With a 3-line color LCD display, it also has FM tuner, SonicStage V music management software and support MP3, ATRAC, AAC, WAV and WMA. Unfortunately they don’t support DRM music, however each comes with a Stype-UP Panel, an interchangeable skin. The Walkmen come with their own USB cable for charging and sync and EX earbuds with 13.5mm drivers. Look for them in mid-May in Japan with prices ranging from ~$81.00 to ~$132.00.

Elecom Graphic Design Limited Edition Earphones

Elecom has teamed with Power Graphixx and Rotterdam’s doing to come up with 6 different Limited Edition Earphones. The company promises less distortion and outside noise with its closed mold design. Each set has an impedance of 16 ohm, a pressure response of 92dB/1mW, playback frequency of 20Hz - 20kHz and a 1.2m cord length. Plug into your iPod or other PMP in with its 3.5mm stereo mini-plug. Select your favorite for $29.99.

Sony X1000 Walkman

X1000 Sony’s answer to Apple’s touch may turn out to be competition. The X1000 features a 3-inch (432x240 pixels) OLED touchscreen display, 32GB storage, an FM tuner, MP3, AAC, WMA, WAV audio/AVC, H.264, MPEG4, WMV video capability and 802.11g/b WiFi. It also has integrated noise cancellation, a NetFront browser, 33 hours of music or 9 hours of video playback. No price or availability date as yet and we hope it comes in more than the finish shown.

Samsung YP-VP1 Voice Recorder/Camera

YP-VP1 Recorder/Cam Samsung has a new YP-VP1 voice recorder that includes a built-in camera. Take a picture and use VoicePix to add a tag. Other features include voice detection, FM tuner and noise reduction. In a choice of black or silver, the YP-VP1 comes in a 2GB model with 520 recording hours in LP mode and a 4GB that can hold up to 1040 hours of audio. At this point, the device is only available in Korea but somehow it wouldn’t be a big surprise to see some in use at next year’s CES.

With a 3.5-inch TFT LCD, it has a 320x234p resolution, a built-in speaker, an alarm clock and calendar. The device has a built-in Li-ion rechargeable battery, an SD slot that supports SD/SDHC and MMC and USB 2.0 thumb drive. The QTV has an energy saving auto-shut off, comes in yellow or pukey pink with adapter and mini USB cable at a price of $89.00.

Bang & Olufsen continue to come out with audio products for the upper 5% that can afford them. Released in North America Friday, the BeoSound 5 features a 10.4-inch touchscreen for browsing with a playlist and a 500GB hard drive to keep your tunes. It also will suggest other tracks/tunes based on your likings.You can get a base system for $5,900.00 but then again, you can put the money into a newer iPod and buy yourself a decent used car.
