Kurt Cobain Inspires New Comic Book
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Artist News, Upcoming Releases, Rock,
Kurt Cobain has inspired a new comic book.
The late Nirvana frontman will have his life documented in a new animated biography - which documents the rock singer's rise to fame and battle with drugs in his last few years.
The book, entitled Tribute: Kurt Cobain, will be released on April 9, to coincide with the anniversary of Kurt's death on April 4, 1994, after he committed suicide. "Not only is this a great way to understand the importance of his contribution to music, but it is a great tool for kids to read about him in a different medium. Our biography comic books are now taught in schools and libraries for students and reluctant readers," Darren G. Davis of Bluewater Publishing said in a statement.
The "Smells Like Teen Spirit" hitmaker's biography follows a string of celebrity biopics by Bluewater Publishing, with notable books in their tribute series looking at the lives of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison and Keith Richards.

Oasis is re-releasing their debut album Definitely Maybe with previously unheard tracks to celebrate the LP's 20th anniversary.
The band - who split in August 2009 after brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher had a huge backstage bust-up in Paris, France - sent the internet into meltdown yesterday after teasing an announcement at 9:00 am this morning, prompting speculation of a reunion. But instead they revealed plans to bring out a new version of their acclaimed debut record - which will be available from May 19. The anticipation of a possible reunion saw fans crash their official website oasisinet.com.
The re-issue is the first in the Chasing The Sun series from Big Brother Recordings - the brothers' own record label - with "What's the Story (Morning Glory)?" and "Be Here Now" also set to be re-released.

Barneys to Relaunch Proenza Schouler’s First Collection

To celebrate its tenth anniversary (and perhaps also in commemoration of those three, well-deserved CDFA Womenswear Designer of the Year awards), Proenza Schouler will be re-releasing their first collection, set to be sold at Barneys.
The decision to sell the slightly-altered version of their first collection at Barneys was a no-brainer for designers Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough, as it was the famous retailer who had snapped up their senior thesis line back in 2003 when they were graduating from Parsons.

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon Celebrate Anniversary at Disneyland
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Music, Television, Weddings, Celebrity Babies, Clothing, Style, Photos,
If there was an award for Most Adorable Vow Renewal Photo, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon would nab it in a heartbeat.
The pair celebrated their fifth anniversary (and their children's second birthday) at Disneyland on Tuesday (to the dismay of everyone who wanted to go that day, considering the entire park was shut down for the event) - Cinderella style. Carey dressed up as a princess while Cannon went as Prince Charming; their twins Monroe and Moroccan were styled in miniature versions of their parents' outfits (cute at first, but a little weird at the same time if you really think about it).
The singer and American Idol judge replicated the fairy tale - naturally - down to arriving in a pumpkin carriage. "Slowly making our way to the freezing cold guests #donthatemebecauseimasiva #cinderella," she wrote on Twitter.
How will they be able to top this for their next wedding anniversary?

David and Victoria Beckham to Renew Their Vows?
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Sports, Weddings, Style, Rumors,
David and Victoria Beckham will renew their wedding vows next month.
The couple - who have children Brooklyn, 13, Romeo, nine, Cruz, seven, and 11-month-old Harper - are said to be planning a special ceremony to take place on their 13th anniversary, July 4, and have invited family and friends to join them at their summer residence for the celebration.
"Last time they renewed their vows Cruz was still a baby and David pretty much did everything. But this time Victoria is planning a lavish vow-renewal at their usual rented summer Malibu pad around 4 July. She's been telling all their families and close showbiz friends in LA, including Eva Longoria, who is Harper's godmother and Kate Beckinsale, to keep the weekend free. She wants to make it extra-special for David. She's so excited," a source said.
Victoria has planned events over the entire Independence Day weekend in order to celebrate their 13-year union.

A Nirvana exhibition is set to open in London on September 13. The In Bloom: The Nirvana Nevermind Exhibition will mark 20 years since the band's Nevermind album was released and will run from September 13 to September 25 at The Loading Bay Gallery in Brick Lane.
The exhibition will feature a hoody worn by the band's lead singer Kurt Cobain - who committed suicide in April 1994 - for a Melody Maker magazine photo shoot, a piece of fret board from one of his guitars, as well as a replica of the vocalist's Fender guitar and a copy of band member Krist Novoselic's Gibson bass guitar.
Rarely-seen photographs of the group - who were also made up of current Foo Fighters singer Dave Grohl, who played drums - captured by Steve Gullick, Steven Double and Martyn Goodacre will be on display, along with lyrics, tour posters and a collection of fan memorabilia. The event - which is to commemorate Nirvana's second album, which has sold more than 30 million copies and features singles "Smells Like Teen Spirit," "Come As You Are" and "Lithium" - will be free to enter and run from 1pm to 7pm daily.

The shared anniversary of Playstation and Dreamcast
Posted by John Kilhefner Categories: Culture, SEGA, Sony,
September 9th marks the anniversaries of two systems that found their place nestled in the bosoms of video game culture in their own different ways. The PlayStation solidified itself as the first console to reach 100 million units sold (the PS2 has since surpassed this), while the Dreamcast remains a cult favorite among gamers. Both consoles helped to revolutionize the way that video games are played today, and we owe them a bit of gratitude on their American birthdays.

A new infographic released by Sony in honor of the 15th anniversary of the PlayStation reveals some interesting statistics about PlayStation gamers. According to the chart, six out of ten PlayStation gamers would rather give up their cell phones for a year in favor of keeping their PlayStation. While 84% would sooner deactivate their Facebook and other social networking accounts for a year. Would you sacrifice social networking and your phone in favor of playing video games?

Young and the Restless Reigns Over Daytime TV
And I thought Today‘s dominance over Good Morning America was a long one.
At the end of this month, CBS’ Young and the Restless will celebrate a long 35 years on air. Although that milestone has been reached by several other daytime dramas, Y&R has achieved something not many can brag about: It’s been the #1 program for 1000 weeks in a row.
The long-running soap opera passed that amazing marker at the end of February. For those who would like to be spared the math - that means the serial has been tops for over 19 years. (Today has been whopping GMA‘s butt for only 12+ years.) The program first hit #1 back in December 1988. (For a historical reference, that was the same month Libyan terrorists blew up Pan Am Flight 103.)
