‘Walking Dead’ Creator Frank Darabont Files Lawsuit Against AMC

Frank DarabontI'm not sure which was more abrupt: Frank Darabont's departure from The Walking Dead, or his lawsuit against the show's distributor, AMC.

The three-time Oscar nominee developed the comic book series into the hit series that it is today, but he was quietly fired from the production just shortly into the show's second season. Now Darabont is suing the network - which gave TV fans Mad Men and Breaking Bad - for tens of millions of dollars in profit he believes that they owe him due to a sweetheart deal they made in licensing the show to itself.

In Darabont's lawsuit, which he filed yesterday in New York, the director claims that AMC never told him why they dismissed him from the show (something they never discussed publicly, either).

“AMC’s conduct toward Frank to date has been nothing short of atrocious. Unfortunately, the fans of The Walking Dead have suffered as well by being deprived of his creative talent," Darbont's lead lawyer Dale Kinsella said.

Quote Of The Day: The Walking Dead

Posted by Tom Mason Categories: Television,

Walking Dead Girl"Time and time again we see events like what happened today with Glen Mazzara. They continue to disrespect writers, s*** on their audience and bury their network. Mazzara took the work-in-progress that was Walking Dead and turned it into a viable TV show with a future. Without him, that future is dim. Showrunners are not development executives, we’re not cookie-cutter douchebags that you plug into a preexisting model. TWD will suffer. Even zombies need consistency."

- TV Producer Shawn Ryan (The Shield) on Glen Mazzara leaving The Walking Dead after Season 3

Jessica Pare and Jon HammWhile November approaches and everyone starts reaching for scarves and hot cocoa, Mr. and Mrs. Draper are showing off their groovy swimwear for the upcoming season premiere of Mad Men.

Jon Hamm and Jessica Pare were photographed in Hawaii filming for the AMC series, but that's unfortunately all that has been revealed for the show's sixth season!

Hamm and Pare's onscreen alter egos seemed to be on the verge of breaking up at the end of last season, but they appear to still be together while vacationing in Hawaii, with Megan sipping some colorful drinks and Don smoking his cigarettes and reading Dante's Inferno.

Mad Men fans can sleep a little easier tonight knowing that the next season should be airing soon, even if the official premiere date hasn't yet been set. Which characters are you most looking forward to catching up with?

The Governor, played by David Morrissey

AMC's popular zombie drama series The Walking Dead returns this Fall for its third season with new characters whose small screen arrivals have been eagerly anticipated by the comic book's fans since the series first aired.

One of those characters is the Governor (pictured above), played by British actor David Morrissey. A big bad of the upcoming season, executive producer Greg Nicotero reveals that the Governor on the show will still surprise fans of the comic: "It's very different from what you know of the character from the graphic novel, with the long stringy hair."

Jon Hamm Tells Mad Men Fans to Smoke and Drink

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Drama, Prime Time, Features,

Jon Hamm as Don DraperJon Hamm is proud that Mad Men makes people want to booze and smoke. The 41-year-old actor plays hard-drinking and hard-smoking character Don Draper in the 1960s advertising drama and he admits he has to smoke "a lot" of herbal cigarettes for the part.

Jon doesn't care that the show seemingly inspires viewers to live unhealthy lifestyles and he instead encourages it: "Someone actually watched the pilot and counted the number of cigarettes I smoked in that episode and it was something like 74. You can hear it in my voice, it is a debilitating endeavor. But we're being realistic - people did smoke back then. My father smoked everywhere, even in the car, in the summertime, with the windows up - it was part of life. I have read that watching the show makes some people at home want to smoke and drink. I think, well, knock yourself out."

Rather than find it difficult to play someone so different from himself, Jon enjoys it. He says it's particularly fun to shoot womanizer Don's love scenes because he has been in a committed relationship with actress-and-screenwriter Jennifer Westfeldt for 15 years.

Netflix secures syndication rights for ‘Mad Men’ on Watch Instantly

Netflix Mad Men"Mad Men" fans might not get a new dose of Don Draper until 2012, but Netflix has inked a deal with Lionsgate to stream all seasons of the show via Watch Instantly.

The first four seasons of the AMC drama will be available to U.S. viewers on Netflix starting July 27. Canadian customers already have streaming access to the show.

"Mad Men has been and continues to be a representation of TV at its best and Netflix is proud to be the syndication home for this acclaimed series," Ted Sarandos, chief content officer at Netflix, said in a statement. "This deal secures long term instant access to an iconic show for Netflix members for years to come."
