American Idol’s Jennifer Hudson to Release Debut Album
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, American Idol, Gossip,
Years have passed since the world first became acquainted with Jennifer Hudson, seventh-place American Idol finisher. With an Academy Award under her belt and a marquee role in one of the summer’s biggest movies, Hudson has nailed acting success.
Making this a perfect time for her to turn her attentions back to her recording career. Jennifer Hudson will soon be releasing her debut album, the first single from which (“Spotlight”) will be available June 10. “I think people will be pleasantly surprised, because it shows a side of my work that no one has heard before,” Hudson said of the album.

Scarlett Johansson the Singer?
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Movies, Music, Videos,
While we’ve become used to seeing musicians evolve into Oscar-nominated thespians (e.g. Will Smith, Queen Latifah), I can’t recall the last time an A-list actor has successfully made their mark in the music industry. But does that mean they should stop trying?
On May 20th, Scarlett Johansson will release her first album, Anywhere I Lay My Head. Her first single, ‘Falling Down’, can be heard via her video below. After listening to it, let us know what you think. Should she stick to starring in Woody Allen films…or could she possibly have a side career in music?

American Idol’s David Cook: Already a Star?
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Gossip,
American Idol is still weeks away from picking a winner, but one contestant is already enjoying notable success from his time on the show.
Resident rocker of the seventh season, David Cook has enjoyed pretty consistent praise from the judges, pretty sweat-free elimination rounds and now, pretty big album sales. Cook’s 2006 record “Analog Heart” is currently enjoying the top album sales slot on Amazon.com, towering over even Mariah Carey’s “E=MC2.” Now, when Randy Jackson tells Cook he’s ready to make a record, we’ll know it’s true - because he already did, two years ago.

New Kids Back to the Old Routine
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: D-List, Music, Breaking News, Where Are They Now?,
Sure, I listened to the New Kids on the Block. I was a young girl in the 90s - find me another like myself who didn’t listen to this band. They rocketed to success, blazed a trail for all the boy bands which came after them, and sold 70 million albums while swinging their legs back and forth and wearing ripped-up jeans. I mean, what says superstars quite like that?
Now they’re all almost forty, and they’re going to attempt to do it (or…something sort of like it) again. Honestly, plainly, I’ve never been into aging rockers. I admire bands like The Rolling Stones and performers like Paul McCartney and sure I think they’re great, but there’s also something a little sad about almost-geriatric singers still playing an electric guitar (don’t believe me? Did you see the Super Bowl halftime show?).

Paula Abdul: Singer, Dancer, Judge…Mother?
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Gossip,
Moms-to-be, keep your digital cameras close at hand during those jaunts to the park. Sometime in the next handful of years, American Idol’s Paula Abdul just might be joining you. Abdul has recently told interviewers that she’d like to have a child in the next three to five years, and she’ll be adopting. She will not go abroad to find the child, saying “I wouldn’t necessarily adopt from abroad like some celebs. I just want a healthy baby.”
Right now, Abdul’s “baby” is her comeback album. Many old Paula Abdul tunes, remixed, will be featured, as well as “five new songs” according to Abdul. Her latest single “Dance Like There’s No Tomorrow,” has been getting a ton of press…most of it unflattering. But there is no doubt that Abdul has found success in many entertainment ventures…so can motherhood be that far behind?

Julianne Hough Saving Herself for That Special Person
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Music, Television, Engagements, Rumors,
Anyone who still believes that Julianne Hough had some part in Helio Castroneves’ broken engagement may think differently after hearing this news: she is still a virgin.
The Dancing with the Stars professional has been bogged down with rumors ever since she was paired up with her first athlete, Apolo Ohno. Now the dancer, who is recording her first country album (don’t confuse her with Jessica Simpson, who is also doing the same), is opening up to CosmoGIRL!.
The blonde beauty says that she has made the (admirable) choice to wait until marriage; she believes that decision will only help to “strengthen that relationship.” Wondering why Hough broke off her own engagement last year? She felt she was simply too young.
You’re only 19 years old. I think “young” would be an understatement.

Randy Jackson Gives Katharine McPhee a Second Chance
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Features,
Buxom Idol contestant Katharine McPhee was dropped from her record label, but apparently reality roots run deep. Judge Randy Jackson will help McPhee get back in the limelight with a new track on his album, where she’ll be paired with fellow Idol alum Elliott Yamin.
Okay, so I’ve heard the song…and it’s crap. Repetitive, boring, and throughout one can hear McPhee making strange, nonsensical noises. It’s called “Real Love,” one of the most uninspired titles I’ve heard, and the audio is currently making the rounds on the Internet. I warn you - don’t listen.

Listen to New Michael Jackson Track
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Music, Videos,
For years now, I’ve made the habit of adding asterisks to my age. (I’ll just say that I’m somewhere around 30****.) Now the release of a special album has forced me to address my declining youth once again.
Tomorrow, Thriller 25 will be the latest Michael Jackson CD to hit the stores. This means we’ve now hit the classic album’s silver anniversary. (Technically, it was released in December 1982.) I swear I can see his protruding wrist bones splashed inside the cover like it was yesterday…
Tuesday’s deluxe edition will not only include remixes of the classic tracks (contributing artists include Akon, will.i.am and Kanye West) but several bonus songs as well. One of those new additions, “For All Time”, is a record that never made the original cut. It has since been tweaked for the 2008 update. (You can listen to it here.) While I would not consider the song memorable, it does bring back fond memories of a less freakish era.)

Listen to Paula Abdul’s New Single
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, Sports, FOX, American Idol, Gossip, Rumors,
Paula Abdul took some time out this morning to make an appearance on pal Ryan Seacrest’s radio show. The special event, which was most likely a precursor to her rumored Super Bowl appearance, was an opportunity for the former pop star to reveal her new single produced by co-worker Randy Jackson.
NOTE: Always debut your new projects amongst friends. At least you can guarantee someone will smile and tell you they love you.
The song, titled “Dance Like There’s No Tomorrow” will appear on Jackson’s upcoming compilation album: Randy Jackson’s Music Club, Vol. 1. Click here to listen to the song for yourself. If you were Simon - would you let her compete in American Idol’s Hollywood round? Or would you kindly tell her to stick with dancing and crying?

‘American Idol’ Runner-Up Debuts Album
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Gossip,
The hair. The smile. The voice. I admit I was not displeased with the results of last season’s American Idol, though I’ll further admit I wouldn’t have minded if Blake Lewis had won over Jordin Sparks, either. The Idol winner just recently released her first album, but don’t let that cast a shadow over Blake’s news: he’s got one, too.
Break Anotha is already on its way up the charts, the result of careful planning and consideration from Lewis. After all, he’s been ready to release an album for years. The young runner-up arrived at the studio filled with ideas and musical samplers, resulting in an album that’s covered with his own personal stamp. Even the title, Audio Day Dream, is a long-standing idea from out of Blake’s own head. The album contains spirited licks, tuneful hits, and even a ballad (How Many Words) that Lewis says is his personal fave.
