Elle Macpherson on Lingerie: It’s a Real Fetish For Me

Elle MacphersonElle Macpherson admits that she really loves underwear.

The supermodel, whose lingerie line Elle Macpherson Intimates is the biggest-selling range in the UK and her native Australia, says she has is obsessed with matching lingerie sets as she believes they are essential to looking good.

“It’s a real fetish for me, always has been. You name it, I have it. I have more than 50 sets of lingerie. Good lingerie really changes the shape of your body under clothes so your hips, waist and breasts look the best they can. It’s the underpinning of everything. And it’s just beautiful to put on a matching set of lingerie. You feel beautiful and sexy.”

The 47-year-old beauty also says she doesn’t worry about getting old because it’s something she can’t do anything about: “I can’t stop time. I just feel really appreciative that I’m so strong and healthy. I ran this morning for six miles, I do yoga and waterski and I’m nearly 50. My body’s fared me well.”

Erin O’Connor to Continue With Catwalk

Erin O'Connor on the catwalkAge is nothing but a number for Erin O’Connor, who has no plans to retire from the catwalk.

The 32-year-old beauty wants to carry on down the runway for as long as possible as she doesn’t think age has anything do to with a model’s ability to pose for the cameras.

“I hate that idea of retirement or ‘You’re past your sell-by-date.’ That is very odd, because, for me, it is about moving, showcasing and being an outrageous poser.”

Erin says she absolutely loves being in the fashion industry and finds being on the catwalk liberating: “You’d think after 15 years I would be bored, but I’m not. The catwalk is like liberation, because there is a bit of performance involved, a bit of skill thrown in, so it doesn’t matter what age you are.”

Now she is one of the more experienced women in the fashion industry, Erin recently set up the Model Sanctuary, which offers respite and a full-time nutritionist to very young models, as she knows they need help when starting out.  “These are really young people. They don’t always realize that they need to set their own boundaries.”

Sharon StoneNot all actresses enjoy the outcome of going under the knife: thinks she looked “like a trout” when she had plastic surgery.

The 52-year-old admits she had her lips boosted with injections in a bid to boost her self-esteem following her divorce from Phil Bronstein six years ago, but was horrified by the results. Explaining her thought processes at the time, she said, “Nobody loved me. I’m 103. My life would be better if I had better lips.”

Recalling her response afterwards, she told America’s More, “What the hell? I looked like a trout.”

The Basic Instinct star also admitted she doesn’t think her age will make her change her sense of style: “You know, I’m still wearing a bikini. That’s my bathing suit. I’ll be wearing leather pants when I’m 70 because that’s my style.”

Harrison Ford Ready for Indiana 5

Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal SkullNot even age can get an actor down: is ready for another Indiana Jones movie.

The screen legend, who has played the titular adventuring archaeologist in the four previous films in the franchise, said he is keen to make a fifth film, and creator is already working on ideas.

Harrison, who also starred in the original trilogy, said, “I’d love to do it. George Lucas is working on an idea and if he can come up with something, Steven Spielberg and I have to agree to go ahead with it. If we find another story to do and we develop the character a little further and I get a chance to do another one, I’d be happy as pie to do it. I don’t think there’s any other franchise films that I’d want to go back to.”

The 67-year-old star particularly wants to deepen the relationship between archaeologist Indy and his son Mutt Williams, played by in 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Helen Mirren Gets Plenty of Beauty Sleep

Helen Mirren pictured in a bikini just last yearDame Helen Mirren sleeps as much as she can to stay young.

The 64-year-old actress - who is known for her enviable, toned figure - maintains her youthful appearance by shunning celebrity parties and getting a good night’s sleep.

“I sleep. When I’m working really hard, I don’t party. I don’t go to the bar after work. I don’t go out to restaurants. I just go to bed. If I’m on a film, I even try to catch some sleep in my trailer at lunchtime. I really try to sleep as much as possible. It’s very important and, as you get older, it becomes more so.”

The screen legend also takes vitamin tablets, sticks to a healthy diet and occasionally exercises. Helen claims she looks after her body for health reasons rather than to look good.

“I come and go about exercise. I do do it, but honestly, it’s not particularly a beauty thing, it’s just that as one gets older, one has to keep up one’s energy levels, and if you want to do that, you can’t stop exercising. But you know, we can’t actually stay young, and it’s ridiculous to pretend we can. The reality is that life goes on - tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock! I call it growing up and, to me, it doesn’t make much difference whether I’m 63 and three quarters, or 64 and a half. You know? You just carry on, and hopefully you get more sensible as you get older, which is all that really interests me.”

Marie Helvin Still Searching for Perfect Shirt

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Health & Beauty, Models, News, Women, Tops,

Marie HelvinMarie Helvin still can’t find the perfect white shirt.

The 57-year-old model - who was a regular on the catwalk and in fashion magazines during the 70s and 80s - has never been able to find a style of shirt which fits her properly despite owning a huge collection of designer clothes.

“I am constantly searching for the perfect white shirt. At my age, I can’t wear all these short, tight things anymore. I’d look ridiculous. I like a plain white shirt, a black A-line skirt and some nice shoes. And that’s it.”

Marie - who has worked for designers such as Yves Saint Laurent, Versace and Valentino - is due to auction off her old wardrobe with upmarket vintage clothing experts Kerry Taylor in London next week. The collection will go under the hammer at the same time as the late screen icon Audrey Hepburn’s clothes.

However, Marie is not sad to see her outfits go up for sale: “I can’t even get a finger into them now!”

Marie - who was previously married to famed photographer David Bailey - previously said she wanted to get rid of her old designer gowns because she didn’t think it was appropriate for her to wear them anymore. “Kate Moss will probably snap them up for Topshop. Hah! But you know, I don’t think it’s appropriate to dress too sexily at my age. Anyway, I can’t get into them any more,” she said.

Meryl Streep Surprised She Gets Work at 60

It's Complicated posterIt’s Complicated actress Meryl Streep admits that she’s past her “sell by date.”

The Oscar-winning actress can’t believe she’s still be offered roles in high-profile movies now she’s reached 60 as she knows Hollywood discriminates against older women:

“It’s incredible - I’m 60, and I’m playing the romantic lead in romantic comedies. Bette Davis is rolling over in her grave. I’ve been given great, weird, interesting parts well past my ‘sell by date.’ I remember saying to my husband Don when I was 38, ‘Well, it’s over.’ And then we kicked the can down the road a little further.”

Meryl - who won the Best Actress Oscar for her role in Sophie’s Choice and the Best Supporting Actress for Kramer Vs Kramer - also says she’s given up worrying what people think of her.

She told Vanity Fair, “I can’t remember the last time I really worried about being appealing. I think it was a really long time ago. It’s freeing as an actress, but whether a director likes it or not is a different thing. I remember [director and co-star] Albert Brooks saying to me in Defending Your Life, ‘Could you just make it a little sweeter?’ And that’s been repeated by other people in the years since then.”

Erin O’Connor Was Pressured to Undergo Plastic Surgery

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Health & Beauty, Models, News,

Erin O'Connor was pressured to get cosmetic surgeryEnglish model Erin O’Connor claims was told she needed cosmetic surgery in order to succeed.

The supermodel, who is known for her striking facial features, was originally criticized about her looks and was told she would have to go under the knife for a breast enlargement operation and nose job if she wanted to be a top model.

“In the early days of my modeling career, I think the industry was uncomfortable with how strikingly different I was. For example, I was told to have a nose job and get my breasts done.”

However, the 31-year-old beauty is thrilled she vowed to ignore the negative comments: “I suddenly got very stubborn and thought, ‘Well, no. This is me,’ and suddenly I was being hailed as ‘a new form of beauty.’”

The 6’ 1” tall model is now worried about the increase of people undergoing surgery to improve their self-confidence:

“I am concerned about ageism and the loss of beauty - the perception that as you grow older, you ‘lose your looks’, which I think is diabolical. I worry about how accessible cosmetic surgery has become. Of course, if it has genuinely helped people and their confidence has grown as a result, who am I to form an opinion? But I think there are better routes to confidence than trying to freeze time.”

Alec Baldwin Thinks About Plastic Surgery, Too

Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Celebrities, Health & Beauty, Rumors, Men,

Alec Baldwin shares the Holiday EW cover with Meryl StreepWhile it’s obvious that women of all ages—no matter how gorgeous—talk plastic surgery, actor Alec Baldwin doesn’t quite rule out the trend nor fear his age, either.

“I’m not saying I wouldn’t do something! I intend to do something. I probably will. Let’s put it this way: I wouldn’t rule it out because… You don’t think I wake up every day and wish I looked like this and this and this? But I can’t let that bother me.”

Considering he’s 51 and hasn’t gone under the knife just yet (at least, that we know of…), I would say that he’s doing pretty well on his own. Granted, he’s no Robert Pattinson, but the guy has aged better than some of his fellow peers (Mickey Rourke, anyone?).

And hey, he’s got some assets he still admires! “I have a great ass, if I may say so. That’s a part of my body that needs no surgical enhancement or rearranging.”

Baldwin’s female It’s Complicated co-star, Meryl Streep, has a different opinion on cosmetic enhancements: “Well, if you’ve ever even contemplated that stuff and looked at what can go wrong in any of those magazines, it’s terrifying! Every part of your life is chronicled, [so] if something mysteriously looks better, [everyone will notice].”

Natalie Portman Talks Plastic Surgery

Natalie Portman on the cover of V magazineDoes Natalie Portman ever look bad? I didn’t think so, but someone at V magazine felt compelled enough to ask the actress how she feels about plastic surgery.

“I would hope not,” she responds, when questioned whether she would submit to what seems to be a Hollywood standard these days. She does, however, admit to thinking about approaching 40 (despite having over a decade until she reaches that hill): “You see people who were stars five years ago and already they’re waning. As actresses approach 40, it starts becoming really, really difficult.”

Photographer Mario Testino shot the images, which recall an androgynous look for the woman who still looked hot without her hair. In the images (seen after the jump), Portman evokes Lady Gaga’s pantsless trend in one and rocks a bustier with some major shoulder bling in another.

The magazine’s Winter 2009/2010 issue is on newsstands now.
