Liv Tyler to Sing in Givenchy Ad

Liv Tyler for Givenchy cosmeticsLiv Tyler is set to make her singing debut for Givenchy.

The actress - who has been the face of the Very Irresistible Givenchy fragrance since its launch in 2003 - has teamed up with the brand and Sony Music Entertainment to work on "an electrifying meeting between the world of rock and the universe of perfume."

Her interpretation of the song - which is yet to be revealed - will be produced by David Andrew Sitek and could be in the style of her dad, Aeorsmith frontman Steve Tyler.

Earlier this year, the 34-year-old star - who has appeared in a number of adverts for the LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton-owned brand - admitted she prefers her perfume to become "part of" her but she isn't keen on changing her fragrance because she likes it when people know her smell: "I like having one perfume that I wear all the time, so it becomes part of you. When someone remembers your scent, it's incredible. I don't like it when you first spray on a fragrance. It's nice when you've put it on in the morning, then in the evening, you can subtly smell it."

Dakota Fanning’s Marc Jacobs Ad Banned

Dakota Fanning for Marc Jacobs

A Marc Jacobs advert has been banned for appearing to "sexualize a child."

The British Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has slammed the "sexually provocative" magazine commercial, which features 17-year-old actress Dakota Fanning sitting on the floor wearing a pale-colored thigh-length dress with an Oh Lola perfume bottle between her thighs."We noted that the model was holding up the perfume bottle which rested in her lap between her legs and we considered that its position was sexually provocative. We understood the model was 17 years old but we considered she looked under the age of 16. We considered that the length of her dress, her leg and position of the perfume bottle drew attention to her sexuality. Because of that, along with her appearance, we considered the ad could be seen to sexualize a child," said  the ASA in a statement.

Video: Latest Apple iPad 2 ad: ‘Now, There’s This’

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Handhelds, Videos,

Apple has debuted a new ad for its popular iPad 2, touting things that Cupertino said wasn't possible before its tablet.

The ad, titled "Now," highlights the versatile nature of iPad apps. "Now, you can watch a newspaper," a voiceover says, zooming in on someone flipping through the Wall Street Journal app. "Now you can listen to a magazine," the voice says, switching to an interactive "Fantastic Mr. Fox" feature from Spin magazine.

The ad also flashes to someone watching "The King's Speech," video chatting via FaceTime, and taking an online class. "Hold an entire bookstore [via iBooks] and touch the stars," the ad concludes, flashing to an astronomy app, "because now, there's this."

This, of course, is the iPad 2, and the commercial ends with a shot of the updated tablet sitting on a table, presumably waiting for you to dole out hundreds of dollars for the pleasure of its company.

Naomi Campbell Thinks Cadbury is Racist

Naomi Campbell

Move over, Disney. There’s a new mega-corporation getting sued in town. Cadbury, the second-largest confectionary in the world, made the mistake of using Naomi Campbell, indirectly, in an ad campaign. And she’s just not having it.

A new ad featuring their Dairy Milk Bliss Bar has the words “Move over Naomi, there’s a new diva in town” as a tagline. Cute, right? Wrong. According to Campbell, it’s racist.

“I am shocked,” the model overreacted. “It’s upsetting to be described as chocolate, not just for me, but for all black women and black people as a race. I do not find any humor in this. It’s insulting and hurtful.” She has also stated that she may be pursuing legal action against the company. Possibly she’s being a wee bit dramatic? Follow the jump to see the ad that's causing all the trouble...

AT&T pokes fun at lack of Verizon simultaneous voice and data

att teases verizon about iphone data

AT&T is finally going on the offensive as the Verizon iPhone is set to launch later this month. In an email blast today, AT&T shows a woman talking on the phone while browsing Fandango for movie tickets. Below is a line that says AT&T is the play network that lets you talk and surf the web at the same time on your iPhone. Thing is, they're right, and they should totally be using this as a selling point. Sure, this isn't something we all do on a regular basis, but I've certainly done it a handful of times, and would have been frustrated if I weren't able to when I needed it.

[Thanks, Tyler!]

Longer Mad Men Episodes Arrive in August

Mad Men

, the series about a fictional advertising agency, will have its share of commercials next season. This will mean extra work for our DVRs.

To accommodate an increase of ads while maintaining the same amount of drama, episodes will run longer than before. The AMC program will now overlap slightly into the 11:00 hour.

“The two minutes is troubling and I’m fighting it,” creator Matthew Weiner wrote in an online chat. “I am obviously a huge advocate of advertising and I love the ‘madvertising,’ but I am fighting the urge to change the show at this time, especially when the financials are meager and the urge to TiVo will just be further encouraged. If you oppose it, I see no reason not to let them know. I will make the best show I can, no matter what, rest assured.”

Season 3 is set to premiere on Sunday, August 16 @ 10pm. A marathon of Season 2 episodes will precede that debut on Monday, August 10.

New Xbox Experience coming in November?

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Microsoft, Rumors, Xbox 360,

New Xbox Experience

Well, this is an odd piece of news. Apparently, one eagle-eyed gamer realized that release details of the dashboard update were staring him right in the face, by way of an advertisement in the current dashboard. As you can see in the image above, in the ad for Rock Band 2, you see the phrase “Check out the New Xbox Experience coming in November!” Okay, cool, but can we view this as accurate? Microsoft always has the last say on when their dashboard updates hit, but they also have final say on how advertising appears within the Xbox ecosystem. Thoughts?
