Mass Effect 3 sells 890,000 copies on day one

mass effect 3

As any in-the-know gamer should be aware of, Mass Effect 3 was released last Tuesday, and, man, is it flying off the store shelves. Opening day sales for the game hit 890,000 units, which is most definitely a lot of cheddar. 1.5 million units of the title have been shipped to retailers worldwide, however take note that the number of units shipped does not correlate with the number of units sold.

Bioshock Infinite to hit stores this October

Bioshock Infinite Launch

After much secrecy from Irrational Games, Bioshock Infinite's release date was finally announced last week. If you live in the United States, you can expect to pick up a copy on October 16, while international gamers can expect to see it in stores a few days later on October 19. Also, it may be worth noting that the PC version of the game will be released on the same dates. That's very unusual, but hey, this is Bioshock after all.

We don’t expect to hear too much more about the game for a while, at least not until E3 2012.

Assassin’s Creed III cover art leaked, confirmed by Ubisoft

Assassin's Creed III cover art

That's right, Ubisoft officially announced Assassin's Creed III with its cover art being revealed, and it reveals a lot. As you can see from the image on the right, it appears as though our hero is in fact going to be of Native American descent (at least partly) and that he will be in the time of the American Revolution. Just peep the tomahawk in the hand, as well as the American flag in the background. We can also very clearly see an old-timey pistol in the image as well.

With the American Revolution setting, we suspect that there will be the killing of a lot of Red Coats in the near future. Stabbing and shooting our way into history as possibly the most interesting assassin ever. The release date for Assassin's Creed III has yet to be revealed by Ubisoft, though we are sure to hear more about it at this year’s E3 event. If you would like to make your own inferences about the game, also check out the Game Informer Magazine cover art below.

mass effect 3 delay

Gamers hoping to find Mass Effect 3 under the Christmas tree this year are out of luck. The latest installment of BioWare's popular mature-themed sci-fi franchise has been delayed until the first quarter of 2012, the company said Wednesday.

"Mass Effect 3 will be released in the first three months of 2012. The development team is laser-focused on making sure Mass Effect 3 is the biggest, boldest and best game in the series, ensuring that it exceeds everyone's expectations," BioWare executive producer Casey Hudson posted on Facebook.

The follow-up to Mass Effect 2 was originally slated for release in time for the 2011 holiday season, according to various gaming websites, though some have already updated that information to reflect the delayed release of the RPG third-person shooter.

Tomb Raider Coming Back Without Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie, Tomb Raider no longerTomb Raider is coming back to the big screen, but this time Lara Croft won’t be played by Angelina Jolie.

No writer has been hired, no cast has been named and the release is scheduled for some far-away date in 2013, but we do know this: producer Graham King is going in a whole new direction. He hopes to “create daring new adventures for the young and dynamic Lara Croft.” According to previous reports, the Lara Croft origin story will be re-explored and tweaked in the rebooted version of the franchise.

Fallout: New Vegas teaser trailer

We love Fallout, and poured hundreds of hours into Fallout 3, which explains the pain we feel in our chest knowing that we won’t be able to play through Fallout: New Vegas until the fall of this year. That said, Bethesda has released a teaser trailer for Fallout: New Vegas, which is just enough to whet the appetite. Who’s excited?

Where the Wild Things Are trailer

The official trailer for debuted this morning on The Ellen Degeneres Show, and immediately caused many to start frothing at the mouth due to it’s high level of awesome. We must say, after watching it a few times, this has got to be one of the most beautiful movie trailers we’ve seen in, well, ever. For those unfamiliar, Where the Wild Things Are is an adaptation of a children’s story written by Maurice Sendek about a disobedient boy named Max who gets sent to bed without supper (or, dinner, as we call it.) He then creates an imaginary forest world that is inhabited by wild creatures who crown him as their ruler.

The movie hits theaters on October 16th, 2009.
