Willie Nelson Says Goodbye to the Braid

Willie Nelson cuts off beard

This could be the biggest separation in country music since Brooks parted ways with Dunn.

Over the weekend, musician did what the hadn’t done in over thirty years - perform without his signature braid. The “Always On My Mind” singer sported the new look - as seen in this AP photo - during a gig in Maui.

Although no explanation was given for the change, Nelson’s rep said the snip happened within the past few weeks.

Maybe Nelson could donate the braid to BP Global should the company move on to Plan Z?

Magicians try to rate awesome iForce magic app into oblivion

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Entertainment, Lifestyle,

So, you know how magicians never wanna let the cat out of the bag and reveal how their tricks work? Well, there’s an awesome iPhone app called iForce which turns out to be a fun magic trick. The problem, though, is that it is so good that magicians purchase it and then rate the app with one star in the App Store. It isn’t because they don’t like it, as their actual comments are nothing but glowing—they rate it one star so that people think the app sucks, and therefore won’t buy it, and therefore won’t know how it works when a magician uses it on them. Yeah, sneaky, we know.

Here’s the thing though—someone took the time to write the app and submit it to the App Store for purchase. These magicians are not only enjoying the app, and it obviously gives them a chance to seem cooler than they are, but they are limiting the income potential of the guy who wrote it, all in the name of selfishness. Since they’ve been at this, the app has dropped from having 5 stars to now having 3.4, and as such, sales have dropped sharply. This is as pathetic as when companies try to find their competitors in the App Store and give them bad ratings just to people will buy their apps instead.

If you wanna check out a cool app, give iForce a shot - it’s $2.99. If you like it, how about helping out the creator, Grigor Rostami, by giving him a good review? You can see a demo of the app up top.

American Idol 9: The Finale

Wednesday night was Simon Cowell’s last moment with American Idol, and the night belonged to him much more than the two contenders for the ninth Idol crown. and performed ably on Tuesday night, but only the votes would determine which would walk away with the winning title. The show will undoubtedly crash and burn now that Cowell is walking away…but that is talk for another time.

The Top 12 Idols - including Crystal and Lee, of course - danced out on stage to deliver “School’s Out for Summer.” While Orianthi jammed out on the guitar, Casey James suddenly announced a surprise appearance - Alice Cooper. This was an exciting guest star, but honestly, he sounded quite bad. And I’m a fan.

The evening started out with a fairly lackluster vibe…but there was much, much more to come.

Project Natal launching October 26 at $149?

Project Natal $149 launch

It looks like is set to launch just five months from today, if a trusted Edge Online source is to be believed. That would put Natal launching on October 26th, and they’ve even got it priced at $149. Even more interesting, although not surprising, is that the motion sensing Natal camera will also be sold in a bundle with the Xbox 360 Arcade console for $299. Obviously, Microsoft is looking to reach a new market with Natal, so bundling it with the entry-level Xbox 360 console will only make sense as they aim to intrigue casual users and families. Now the launch date could change, and we won’t get it confirmed until E3. That said, one other sure-thing is that Project Natal will be officially named at E3 as well—seriously, you didn’t think they’d ship with a name like that, did you?

AT&T raising smartphone ETF fees - iPhone lock-in plan in place?

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Smartphones, Corporate News,

Hey, look here—turns out AT&T and following Verizon in the decision to raise early termination fees for smartphone customers. The new fee will be a whopping $352 if you opt to cancel your contract early, although for each month of active service, that will decrease by $10. Technically, AT&T says this change is for customers who select “advanced, higher-end devices, including netbooks and smartphones.” Hold up, so now netbooks are higher end devices? The most ridiculous part of all this is that today the current ETF is “just” $175, so this is a marked and significant increase. If you are instead opting for a basic feature phone, the ETF will actually be less, dropping to $150. Now, if you are a current customer, your contract won’t just flip over, but you can bet your bottom dollar than when you next upgrade your phone, or if you pick up that next month, you’ll pick up the new terms. A conspiracy theorist might say that this is AT&Ts method of locking customers in, what with the iPhone heavily rumored to be hitting Verizon this fall. Interested in seeing how the company is spinning this one? Click on over to their “open letter to valued customers” that we have linked below.

Megan Fox Not a Part of Transformers 3

Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox and Michael Bay

UPDATE: Megan Fox is now claiming that she chose not to come back to the franchise.

It looks like a little bad-mouthing can go a long way.

Megan Fox may have compared Michael Bay to Hitler well over a year ago (and even made a “genuine” apology last fall), but it appears the sting from her comments has not yet subsided.

Although it was believed the dark-haired beauty would return to Transformers 3, it’s just been announced that the role of Mikaela Banes has been cut. Sources say the search for a new love interest for Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) has now begun.

iPhone HD leaked again (images!)

iPhone HD inferno

The way that the upcoming and still yet to be announced has been fondled by people who’ve gotten their hands on leaked goods is getting downright ridiculous, because it’s happened again for a third time. The guys over at Taoviet have gotten their hands on a newer version of the iPhone HD that was leaked a month ago by Gizmodo, and we can see some minor (but still nice) improvements. A couple of significant things here. First, the screws at the bottom of the device are gone, so the enclosure looks cleaner. Second, the back of the phone indicates that there may likely be a 16GB model. In the past, the iPhone dropped its low-end, moved the high-end down, and then doubled the high-end. So with the iPhone HD, we were expecting a 32GB model and a 64GB model. Here’s hoping they give us all three.

Last, but certainly not least, they took apart the iPhone and found an Apple-branded processor in there. As we know, the was the first iPhone OS device to rock the Apple A4 custom chip, and it looks like we’ve just confirmed that the next iPhone will as well.
