AT&T says: 3G iPhone in 2008
Posted by Sparky Categories: Apple, Smartphones, Handhelds, Internet, Rumors, Wireless / WiFi,
AT&T‘s CEO Randall Stephenso let slip that a 3G iPhone is indeed on it’s way sometime in early 2008. This is an obvious evolution for the platform and is no surprise, but hearing it ‘right from the horses mouth’ certainly is a nice reassurance. While the exact timing of the release is unknown, he did indicate it would likely be prior to May. Based on AT&T’s HSDPA technology the 3G iPhone would feature the same blazing download and upload speeds as other 3G devices currently on the market. Apple has yet to comment on Stephenso’s early-announcement.
Gear Live’s prediction: the announcement of the 3G iPhone will come hand in hand with a more proper unveiling of the SDK at Macworld, likely with a bump to 16GB of storage to match the current generation iPod Touch. Gear Live’s predicament: we can’t wait.

‘X-Files’ Movie Slated for July 2008
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: 20th Century Fox, Science Fiction, Sequels, Upcoming Releases,
July 25, 2008. That date will be personally significant to me but globally significant to sci-fi fans everywhere. Although my husband should be taking me out to dinner to celebrate our 4-year wedding anniversary, I sense that evening will be spent in a movie theater instead. After all—how often does an X-Files film come around?
After years of rumors and denials, what had been looking like a pipe dream is now becoming a reality. David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson and creator Chris Carter have finally gotten their acts together and jointly committed to the long-awaited X-Files sequel. Production is scheduled to start in December in time for the Summer 2008 release date.
Although the cult series only ended in 2002, it has been a whopping ten years since Fox Mulder and Dana Scully were last seen on the big screen. While the new film is meant to be a ‘stand-alone’ feature, I suspect DVD rentals of the series and movie will spike sometime around June of next year. I know I could use a bit of refreshing myself; the only thing I remember about the first pic were the bees. Lots of them.

Lindsay Lohan’s 2008 Plans
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Celebrity Gossip,
Lindsay Lohan, still fresh from her third stint in rehab, will host a New Year’s Eve party to ring in 2008. According to US Magazine, Lindsay will hold the party at LAX nightclub. Sources say that Lohan is contractually obliged to hold the party, as she owes Pure Management (the group running LAX) money. (And I thought Disney movies paid well.) A sister club of LAX, PURE, was supposed to hold a 21st birthday party celebration for Lindsay over the summer. The star was forced to cancel when she went off to rehab, though she did pay PURE back the money they offered her. Now she’ll fulfill her commitment with a New Year’s Eve bash.
Don’t fall off the wagon, Lindsay!

Good News for ‘Star Trek’ Fans
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Paramount, Science Fiction, Casting, Rumors, Upcoming Releases,
Okay, I’ll admit it: I’m a Trekkie. I try not to take it to a dark place; I’ve never dressed up in costume or downloaded Enterprise schematics online. I do know what the ‘T’ stands for in James T. Kirk, and admit I’ve avidly watched every episode. Ever. So I, like many Star Trek fans out there, feel pretty stoked about the new movie. And more information is coming out of the galaxy every day. Eric Bana will play a villain in the flick, which is set for a Christmas 2008 release. So far, news on the film is good for Trek fans. Leonard Nimoy has given the film his approval, which is said to focus on Spock – and that all sounds very promising to Trekkies of all kinds.
