Description

Creative is announcing their Vision, then not announcing their Vision. Earlier today the much rumored Zen Vision - an update to their aging and poorly designed Portable Media Center - appeared briefly on their site only to disappear moments later. Luckily the folks over at DAPreview got their hands on the details and boy are we all excited about them. The Vision will feature a 640x480 screen, 30GB HDD, CF reader (why can’t more PVP devices include this), support for DivX, XviD, WMV, and of course MP3 and WMA. One great feature that the Zen Vision borrows from the rest of the Zen line is a user removable and replaceable battery.

T-Mobile Motorola RAZRT-Mobile has finally started to carry the Motorola RAZR. The T-Mobile version is identical to the Cingular version in every way, save for the logo. As cool as it is that this great looking, under performing phone has come to T-Mobile, I would venture to say that they are many months too late, and about $199.99 too expensive, as Cingular is offering the same phone for free with a two year service contract. The real question is: When is Motorola going to come out with the RAZR Professional, or perhaps the much drooled after Franklin?

Apple Many are still baffled as to why Apple switched from IBM’s PowerPC chip to Intel’s X86 chips – especially after Steve Jobs criticized the X86 so much. Jon Stokes from ArsTechnica writes some pretty interesting information regarding this switch, claiming this information has been confirmed by several sources in the know. It boils down to large volume discounts and an MVP like catering to their needs. Most interesting to note is the high possibility of seeing a video iPod very soon due to Intel’s XScale chip that currently powers some color PDAs. This could prove to be a very interesting road we travel in – Apple hand in hand with Intel.

Portectorz

Having purchased a PowerBook recently, I’m always looking out for accessories that will compliment this sexy machine and protect it at the same time. That is why I love Portectorz. This great little invention helps protect the very sensitive ports on your PowerBook or iBook from debris or liquids that may try to damage your precious computer. Made out of a high-polymer silicone, these port protectors can be cut so as to customize which ports you want to be able to access without leaving the rest of the ports unprotected. Expect to drop $19.95 to $23.95 plus shipping and handling for some protection.

Black Xbox 360 Mockup

Black Xbox 360All of the audio/video fanatics out there can calm down - it looks like the Xbox 360 will possibly be available in both white and black. I know a lot of people were a little put off by the idea that the console would not fit in with most high end audio/visual equipment which is almost always black. Luckily this photo found on Joystiq helps dissuade our fears and gives hope that Microsoft will release the console in a more professional looking color.

Then again, being that this is a mock-up, you may just have to settle for a black faceplate.

Office Bow of DeathThis is yet another cool way to waste time at the office. The instructions for building your very own Office Bow of Death have arrived - you can destroy those in cubicles across the office after building this contraption. The best part is that it is made of supplies you can find in just about any corporate environment.

Color Earbuds

Tad Grglewiecz was on one of the buses hit by the bombings a few days ago, and his doctors say that his earbuds saved his hearing:

Doctors told him his hearing was saved by his iPod earphones. He was treated at the scene by a female doctor from the British Medical Association, whose headquarters were next to the bus blast. “I was bleeding heavily, so without her help it could have been very serious for me. Last night I went into theatre to have my wounds cleaned. There were bits of bus in me. It was a miracle I was not more badly injured considering how close I was to the explosion. The help I received from people was extraordinary.”

Marvel vs. Capcom 2

Unlockable video game content can be a wonderful thing. It can be a Pavlovian joy to have more stuff unlocked and to have your game play actions positively rewarded like a laboratory rat mouse working through the maze in a college psychology course. However there can be some darker B.F. Skinner type approach to unlockable game content that I must frown on. As time passes it seems like I have less and less time to play video games as I used to and it is really frustrating when a game developer will take most of the content in a game and only dish out a pittance at the beginning and then the game will demand hours after hours while dishing out a few new items and cars once and a while.

Skype-Out FreeOkay, so we love Skype. The IM client/P2P VOIP client has been good to us. Today, they deliver yet another small token, as they present their first Free SkypeOut Day. In actuality, you only get 10 free SkypeOut minutes, so it is a bit misleading. To score your free ten, log in to Skype, and head to the My Account page. Do it quick, as you only have until the end of the day.

Flickr Xbox Media Center

Now this is neat - Playfeed has a story on a Flickr plug-in for Xbox Media Center. Basically, it gives you just about every Flickr function available from the website within the confines of the XBMC application. To install the plug-in, you just download it and FTP it into the Xbox.
