SeV T-Shirt Review

We have generally really liked the products that SCOTTeVEST thinks up and puts out there for geek consumption. It’s great to have a simple, easy way to carry all of your gear without having to carry bags or clip-ons. Recently, they released their simplest item yet - The SCOTTeVEST TEC T-Shirt. Instead of having a multitude of hidden pockets like most of the rest of their line, the SeV T-Shirt has just one pocket. It is meant to provide a means to carry around one item while lounging around or being casual. Check out our impressions after the jump.

King 5 BloggingHere in Seattle we are blessed with a very technology centric culture. With companies like Microsoft, Adobe, Amazon, and Real Networks headquartered here we have a healthy geek population. This technology centric approach has even touched our local news stations: King 5 has started a group blog composed of it’s news staff including reporters, producers, photographers, and meteorologists. They have taken a bit of a leap of faith and enabled open commenting. This is a pretty gutsy move for a TV station to make and it’s going to be interesting to see how it works out.

Come On Everybody

The official site of the first next generation gaming console to hit the store shelves has been updated and includes new videos and content. One of those videos worth noting is a commercial type video where a variety of people start visiting a guy after he turns his Xbox 360 on. The song in the background shouts, “Come on everybody!” as more and more people enter the room appearing to be from all over the world. Could this be the catch phrase that replaces the current “It’s good to play together”? Also something very cool on the site is the ability for you to “preview” the media guide. We have read all about this media experience, but to actually see it in action is a lot better than reading about it. I for one cannot wait until this box is sitting next to my television.

Waxess D-ModeNo word on how much this will run you, but Waxess Inc.‘s engineers have been hard at work putting this gem together.  The functionality of this product has many practical uses and makes sense.  While sporting a whopping 2 watt receiver for cellular use, this puppy can be combined with four other handsets in a household landline environment.  Voicemail is supported on both services as well.  But the real question is: can this cell phone play Tetris?

Sonic Fabric

Sonic Cassette Tape DressThankfully creative people like Alyce Santoro are out there to do creative things with the millions of miles of old cassette tape floating around out there. She spends hours recording ambient sounds onto old tape, then knits it into fabric for use in creating clothing and other every-day objects. She is working on a specially designed tape head to “read” her fabric and play it back. Her fabric is available by the yard if you have your own creative ideas to use this recycling hack for.

Energizer Quick SwitchSo there I was getting some headphone at my local pharmacy, which is a definite no-no for the audiophile in me - but i had no choice, when I spot something that intrigued me: a flashlight.  Why is this flashlight different? Well, this flashlight can use 3 kinds of batteries: C, D, and AA.  Not only that, but when one pair dies out you can easily just flip a switch and be using the next set.  There’s no need to even fiddle around in your closet to find an old boom box that may contain 4 or 5 dead C batteries.  Just awesomely practical.

Marvel Super HeroesMicrosoft has landed a licensing agreement with Marvel to develop a Massively Multiplayer Online Game using its 5,000 plus characters. Seems that Microsoft really wants to take advantage of the fact that MMOGs are becoming ever so popular with the decreasing price of Broadband connections and community feel of this game type. This will be interesting to see how they incorporate this type of games for the Xbox 360 and just how popular they will be. Check out the full press release after the jump.

Metroid Prime: HuntersRumor has it that Nintendo will be offering Metroid Prime: Hunters with purchase of a Nintendo DS shortly after the game is released, giving late-comers the full version of the game rather than just a demo. Similar to the Mario bundle being offered, the Metroid bundle will definitely help sales – especially since it will be available in time for the holidays.

20 RPG's 1Up has posted a great feature on the 20 best RPG’s for the Playstation 2. I was quite pleased to see a couple of my favorites listed on there. I was also pleased to see one of my favorite publishers dominating the pack - Square with Final Fantasy X, X-2, XI, Kingdom of Hearts, and Star Ocean - Till the End of Time. While the sentimental gamer in me misses the good old days of FF 3 for the SNES games like Star Ocean - Till the End of Time keep reminding me what a creative publisher can do with a powerful modern console.
