Kickstarter: Soulless by Logan Giannini & George Kambadais

“When you wake up in a morgue drawer with a hole in your chest the size of a cantaloupe, it's only natural to have certain questions.”
Now that’s a first sentence that grabs my attention and it’s from writer Logan Giannini in his pitch for Soulless, a new Kickstarter project that’s illustrated by a friend of mine, George Kambadais.
Neill is the star of Soulless and after waking up in the morgue he sets out to uncover not just himself but what happened to him as well.
As Neill searches, according to writer Giannini, he “learns a great deal about the true nature of the people around him, from his girlfriend Sarah (who, it would seem, didn't exactly wait for Neill to be dead to start seeing other guys), to Neill's vampire friend Bradley (a name he hates), to a young ghost girl (with questions of her own) who's accompanied by a large gorilla and a parrot...”

Weekend Reading: Avengers, Overload, Don Bluth and John Cleese

So how many times are we all seeing The Avengers this weekend? And in how many ways is it the movie of the summer?
In honor of the new Avengers movie, Longbox Graveyard looks at the Kree/Skrull War, from Avengers #89-97. “Nearing the end of his iconic six-year stint on Avengers, Roy Thomas — along with artists Neal Adams and Sal & John Buscema — delivered what was up to then arguably the longest and most complex continuing story in superhero comics, as Earth became a battleground between the warring Skrull and Kree star empires.”
He scuffed directly to the wire magazine racks and twirled them till he located the comic books. He found the least-wrinkled copy of Young Men, which contained stories about the Sub-Mariner Captain America and the Human Torch. He took a minute to study its thrilling cover before carrying it and some war comics to the cash register.
The guy who rang him up said, “First one of those we sold all week. Nobody’s buying superheroes anymore.”
“Not even Young Men?”
“Not even Batman.”
Glancing back at the rack, Carter said, “That’s bad, huh?”
The guy handed him his change. “We’ll live.”

How To Write Comics The Fingeroth Way!

Hey, while you’re sitting on your butt Wednesday nights playing on the computer, you could be learning how to write comic books.
My good friend, Danny Fingeroth, is opening up his brain again and letting all the how-to out with his 5-part online course called Writing Comics And Graphic Novels. As a former Marvel editor - and one I hold in high regard - and comic book writer - ditto - it doesn’t get much better than this in the learning department. He's now the Sr. VP of Education at the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art in New York.

Yesterday Samsung unleashed the Galaxy S III smartphone at its Mobile Unpacked event in London. Sure, we brought you news of the Galaxy S III when it was announced, but sometimes, you just need to see things for yourself. Luckily, Samsung has just put the whole shebang up for you to watch and enjoy at your liesure. The video is about 80 minutes long, though, so you may wanna get some popcorn or something. DC Fast Charging with Combined Charging System is the future of EV power

In the world of EVs, the quicker you can charge your vehicle when on the go, the better. That's one stark difference between the electric cars and their gas counterparts--while you're saving money from not having to visit the pump, you're certainly losing out on time. Well, that's about to change, as several EV manufacturers have agreed on a new 20-minute fast-charging standard that'll take you from empty to full within 20 minutes. It's called DC Fast Charging with a Combined Charging System, and the folks over at Audi, BMW, Chrysler, Daimler, Ford, GM, Porsche, and Volkswagen has all agreed that this is the future.
Oh, and to be clear, this really is the future. As in, don't expect to see vehicles that support the stndard for another year or so. Heck, over in Europe, the ACEA isn't even guaranteeing that you'll see charging stations adopting the standard over there until 2017. Hopefully things pick up a little quicker than that here in the US.
Kickstarter: The Devil Is Due In Dreary

I love comics with a Western-style setting, and if you throw in some apocalypse too, even better. Creator David Parkin and Executive Editor Daryl Freimark describe The Devil Is Due In Dreary as “Classic cars, pompadours and rock-n-roll meet the folklore of the American southwest in this rockabilly take on the classic western.”
Team Dreary, in conjunction with artist Allan Jefferson, successfully published their first issue through Ardden. Now they’re going through Kickstarter to fund issues 2-4 and wrap up the story.

Alongside the announcement of the Samsung Galaxy S III, Samsung announced that buyers will also get another nice incentive--50 GB of free space on Dropbox. Buyers will simply need to register their Galaxy S III, and we presume they also need to install the Dropbox Android app. From there, they'll receive 50 GB of Dropbox storage for two years. Definitely a nice bonus if you ask us.

Bowers and Wilkins is set to release a cheaper version of its P5 headphones this June, and they look great. The Bowers and Wilkins P3 are the first on-ear headphones from the company that are meant for mainstream buyers, and they're priced at $200. They're foldable for easy storage and come with two different cables, one of which includes volume and talk controls for your smartphone. The P3 headphones will be available in both black and white colors.
