Epson Stylus Photo PX650

One of the signs of the times when it comes to printers is that we no longer require a computer to make them work.  This is the case for the Stylus Photo PX650, a printer that is more for digital photographers rather than PC users.

The PX650 features PictBridge support, a memory card slot, for copying and scanning at 1,200 DPI resolution.  It also gives you a 2.5 inch LCD screen, so the user can crop and edit right at the printer.

The Epson Stylus Photo PX650 should be available sometime after September in the US for about $215.  It comes with a pack of photo paper, and the Claria Photographic Ink that the printer uses is supposed to last two hundred years.

Audio 2 DJ

I had no idea that there was a market for audio interfaces for DJs, but there is a whole world of DJing that I am completely oblivious to.

Native Instruments has come out with the Audio 2 DJ, a pocket-sized audio interface for DJs that “boasts the ultra-loud, professional sound quality needed to rock the world’s biggest clubs”.  It should be available in September for a price of about $119.

Can’t wait?  Watch the YouTube video of this guy free-running to get into the groove.

EVGA InterView Monitor

Some of you probably work with two monitor screens, but what if you simply bought one monitor that was two monitors?  I suppose this was the inspiration for EVGA’s InterView, which has two monitors that can swivel.  (You can see from the photo that one is turned 180 degrees.)

Each one has a resolution of 1440x900, and are 17-inch at the diagonal.  The stand itself has 4 ports, a built-in webcam, as well as an input for a microphone.  There is also a DMS video connection.

Like it?  So do I.  Be prepared to pay a pretty penny’s worth of $649 for it, though.

Cell Phone chargersWe wish that other places were as up to date technologically as Europe. Sony Ericsson, Nokia, RIM, Apple and other companies have joined with the European Union to standardize a universal USB cell phone charger next year. Not only will it be easier to only have one charger, it will be good for the environment. Phones built with the new standard in mind should start hitting European shelves next year.

HP Photosmart Premium with TouchSmart Web

just unveiled their HP PhotoSmart Premium with TouchSmart Web home printer. While that is a mouthful to say, we know, it actually turns out to be pretty cool technology for those of us who do still rely on a printer. The easiest way to describe it is, imagine if your printer had an iPhone-like control panel that was connected to the Internet, and controlled both the printer and could control and pull up web data for printing. That is what HP has put together here. Through the magic of HP Applications, you’ll be able to use the 4.33-inch control pad to pull up maps with directions, coupons, movie tickets, newspaper articles, are more. Even better, the apps are smart enough to know how best to print each piece of content, so all will usually look decent. If you have a Snapfish account, the printer can connect directly to that, and print photos…I know, thrilling. Luckily, the apps will be something that just about anyone can make, so the current limits that seem to be apparent as it pertains to which services you can use with this printer may actually fall to the wayside. The only barrier to companies spending time on making apps for this printer, though, are going to be in the numbers. The reason the Apple App Store has over 50,000 apps is because there are millions of and iPod touch units out there. We aren’t so sure that people will be rushing to buy the HP Photosmart Premium with TouchSmart Web when it hits stores this fall, what with its $399 price tag, but hey, we are all for innovation, and HP has at least tried to do that with this product.
